I used to work in catering whilst I was at uni. I found the whole experience so unpleasant I vowed never to work in the food industry ever again.

Well the owner on the one hand was a tyrant, and the Head Chef was a little Hitler who on one occasion came into work with a serious stomach infection, went upstairs to be sick, came downstairs *without* washing his hands and then duly proceeded to flip burgers.

His justification? "heh, I'm hardcore me"

That's just wrong and sick . Not all head chefs are like that . Others would fire him for that . Don't judge all chefs kitchens for that . I'm a head chef . Yeah I'm an asshole but I can also me down to earth . Moods change by the minute His justification? "heh, I'm hardcore me" "

"I used to work in catering whilst I was at uni. I found the whole experience so unpleasant I vowed never to work in the food industry ever again."

My first job during the school holidays was in an industrial laundry (summer 1977). My second during college holiday was in catering.

I missed the furnace of the industrial laundry. Working in catering was the spur I needed to settle down to my studies as the thought of doing that permanently filled me with dread.

Hats off to those that enjoy it...it wasn't for me!

I've done it for years. Hard work as a single parent too. Had enough last year and now I work in a warehouse office.... No weekends or bank holidays, 9 to 5 shift
