If it didn't start in October, I would enjoy it more....I think its an anti climax as its months beforehand all the christmas shite is in the shops and on the television.

Christmas is all about children really, it changes as you get older. It can be a brilliant time, however for many it can be a time of reflection. Plus memories of Christmas past. It's just a couple of days though really and then back to normality.

Yes.. All my family have passed away now. OH also has none left. My Mum was one of 12 .. We would do a visit every boxing day with the kids. So reflection is right, sad times now no grandkids, hard to accept that the family actually ends with my two children.

So for me I prefer it would just pass me by.

Not so much this year, it will be the first Christmas since my husband died, with him there it was more of a family dynamic, now with just me and my 20 year old son it will always be a "fake Christmas"

We're getting away from it all and going to Hawaii instead.

Thanks, I am sure we will, my son has never been to Hawaii and I am not sure he quite grasps the concept of 28C weather in December, he had enough trouble with the idea of taking hand luggage only!

this. I always say I hate Christmas but in fact what I hate is the month of annoying build up. I've not started to do anything Christmasy yet but will enjoy the festive celebrations when they arrive and not a moment before.

It is a sad time for me and has been for the last few years!! I was thinking of volunteering my services to those who need help during this time of year. IE:- The elderly or homeless...maybe serve them some xmas dinner or even if it's just a caring chat and a cuppa so they don't feel totally alone at Christmas.

This is going to be a very hard Christmas. As my dad passed away in May it will never be the same again. He was like a big kid on Christmas day. He always loved Christmas. His favourite Christmas film is Home Alone 2: Lost In New York, it was on the other day and I had tears in my eyes even if it was a funny part of the time because I could hear him laugh in my head, sounds daft eh?

But I got a baby girl who will occupy my mind and make sure she have a nice Christmas although she will be 3 months and won't understand it lol.
