I enjoy edgy humour, which is why Frankie made me laugh, the woman on the other hand is boring middle of the road which is just inoffensive and dull.

I think his observational stories are brilliant, i also like some of his more offensive jokes, but i think he takes it too far sometimes. The trouble nowadays is people are too afraid to cause offense and are very careful and guarded about what they talk about.

It would be nice if he could curtail it slightly, but if he did that, he would probably lose all the humour.

His humour is very very abrasive, but it is a west coast of scotland type of humour, kevin bridges (kev-I-N to his mates) has a similar style, just as abrasive, although not as offensive.

I thought some of frankies tweets during the referendum were outstanding, and his slaughter of ukip was a refreshment instead of the way the media are pandering to them.

He's one of the wittiest, clever comedians of a generation.

He's thought provoking and funny a combination which is very hard to do.

Personally it's my type of humour, I've never found him offensive but the offence is intentionally there to make you think.

I'd much rather watch somebody like Frankie to somebody like Micheal MacIntyre not that he's unfunny but I find people like Frankie leave you with much more than just laughing.

"

He was compering, which was a waste, as he is a force of nature as a comic. He totally dominates the room. However, as a compere, he was very poor. He constantly overran and the night swiftly became the Johnny Vegas show with special guests breaking up the flow of Vegas. He was obviously piss funny, but it would have made more sense for him to headline.

Ironically, I'd not actually gone to see Vegas, but to see a man who is a genius, if obscure, Caimh McDonnell.

I think that depends on how the comic works it. If the routine is clever, lines can be crossed, but with a poor comic, it can become crass.

I saw a chap just getting a bit of stage time at a free night last month and he was like the son of Stan Boardman. His routine consisted of heaven and hell going all PC and it fell flat. I thought there was some mileage in his notion, but he didn't bring it off. Instead he just sounded like that bloke at work who goes off on one every so often, that no one wants to be teamed up with.

I'm a comedy anorak

When overtly seeks to shock with stuff like that he does himself a diservice as some of his observational/political stuff is really good. As someone said earlier his twitter feed during the Scottish Independent vote was very entertaining.

Yeah, he does provoke a lot of thought.

Katie prices son, she jumped in both barrels for dragging him into the firing line.

Didn't she do that when she used him on her show ?

Think that was half the point frankie was trying to make.

It might just give her some idea how disgusting it is to throw your kids into the full spotlight of the media, when they have no say on the matter whatsoever. And make money on the back of them to pay for yet another one of your ridiculous "weddings". She made a rod for her own back. I don't care how upsetting it was for her, because I don't believe it did upset her. She is a cruel heartless woman who cares about money above all else. If you can't see the position she put her own kids in then you need to look more closely at her behaviour.

Check out the great bill Hicks's an absolute legend of standup.

I remember the storm he caused in the 90s with the LA riots and his stance on drugs and smoking, he really knew how to make someone laugh, feel offended, then think then laugh, then feel offended again, then laugh.

And if you polled standup comics they all rate him as in the top three standups ever.

Until there is a law passed that prohibits specific jokes then its tough shit. Everyone is a potential target for humour. There is no line to cross, its comedy, an art form and is free to _xpress itself however the performer wishes. Just because you think something is wrong, then it shouldnt be allowed? Your morality is not universal and you would do well to remember that.

Its also the price you at for putting your kids in the public arena, unbeknownst to them. By the way Shannon Mathews wasn't murdered. You can't just look at the joke at face value, you have to ask why its funny and the reasons it was formulated in the first place. You will find some very serious points behind his "sick" jokes.

Chubby was on TV in the league of gentlemen. As for Alf garnet, it would just be repeats as they have said they don't want to write the character anymore because some people completely misunderstood the idea, and thought his racism was the funny aspect. Chubby doesn't want to be on TV, many standups don't want to, as it eats their act away, an act that they might have been honing (or hawking in his case) for years.

But he wasn't there to hear it. And just who or how is he ever going to hear it? I preferred his joke about Shannon Mathews, personally. Far more gruesome and had a horrible ring of truth to it.

Its not about him hearing its about saying a child his size and with his disabilities would rape his own mother.. Saying any child would do that is wrong!

Disabled and murdered children arent jokes theres a hell of a lot more people can make jokes about .

It's not that bad, it's an attempt to poke fun at a ditzy dip shit, who's fucked her way through every b list celebrity all the while tweeting every stupid sentence that runs through her brain, while accepting large amounts of money from magazines to post her over inflated ego and tits.

And at the end of the day so what if she did get offended, it's the price of living with free speech and a democracy, I find lots of things offensive everyday.

I'll get over it, I'm sure she did after 20 minutes

I don't know her that well, she looks good though and I guess you cant blame her for doing what she does to make money. So what if she has had sex with lots of men, she is no different to the women on here. I agree with you about free speech though except we havnt really got free speech at all in this country anymore otherwise roy chubby brown would be on television, and alf garnet.

Chubby was on TV in the league of gentlemen. As for Alf garnet, it would just be repeats as they have said they don't want to write the character anymore because some people completely misunderstood the idea, and thought his racism was the funny aspect. Chubby doesn't want to be on TV, many standups don't want to, as it eats their act away, an act that they might have been honing (or hawking in his case) for years."

I think Chubby is more than happy not being on mainstream TV and selling his DVD in the tens of thousands!

Who decides that it is wrong for comedians to make jokes about disabled children.

Does the restriction end there?

I assume it's public opinion that is the decider. If people don't like the jokes they won't buy the DVDs etc. I'll bet Frankie 'll be ok!

Until there is a law passed that prohibits specific jokes then its tough shit. Everyone is a potential target for humour. There is no line to cross, its comedy, an art form and is free to _xpress itself however the performer wishes. Just because you think something is wrong, then it shouldnt be allowed? Your morality is not universal and you would do well to remember that."

Alright go up to a kid with down syndrome and make a joke about them to their face! I bet you bloody wouldnt!

Factually accurate, but if a comedian were to use that in a routine, it may make for a dull set.

I have seen many disabled comedians, and guess what? They rip the piss out of disabilities themselves. They don't mind others doing it either, if its funny. But disabilities don't have to bring about a lack of sense of humour or po facedness. Stop being offended on someone else's behalf, its that attitude that is belittling the people that you think your defending. They don't need your defence. They can stand on their own two feet, well not all of them obviously, but you get my point.

Titz Towers, North Notts

I've found that some disabled acts can be a bit limited. They are happy to rip the piss out of their disabilities, but this can be problematic, as it sometimes takes over.

I've seen 3 disabled comedians, myself. Steve Day, Wizzy Janew and a girl whose name I didn't catch.

Steve Day is a comedian who just happens to be deaf. His deafness forms part of his act, but is incidental to it. Wizzy Janew is blind chap and his act was all about life where is biggest worry is making sure he is facing the audience and not delivering his material to the wall. The 3rd lass had autism and was new, just getting a bit of stage time and she forgot part of her act, which was all about autism.

Steve Day is very much mainstream and you could see him any night and laugh.

The other 2, were almost character pieces, as their entire act revolved around their disabilities. Wizzy was extremely funny, but I think if I were to see him 6 months hence, it would be blind jokes part 2.

why should I not be offended by someone making jokes about people(children for example)?-slagging them or their parents off, while bringing the disability as something to make fun of.

its not even the type of jokes that come with people who work in the care industry, sometimes our jokes were purely indiental and a way of coping with some of the harsher aspects of the job...never in one minute would I think I make this a big public joke, really just for shock/money reasons.

and anyway, the fans and those of others like him...seem to think its brilliant..fair play..but ask your friends who might have had someone close to them who's had or been born with something that is no fault of their own..if you can make jokes about them.

I doubt he'd be making jokes about my nieces cerebral palsy, to me or any of my family...Oh..it must be cos we all madly politically correct!...fuck off.

because someones on television, it doesnt make them any better than some of the mental bullies out in the real world.

My OPINION (please note the word opinion), also comes from experience. As I have said, your opinion is not universal, nor are your morals.

I myself am epileptic, its almost killed me on many occasions, I don't however claim to be in an epileptic club that only allows its members to make jokes. In ALL comedy there has to be a butt of a joke. That's how comedy works. Frankie Boyle never made jokes about her son, per se, he made a joke of her selfish treatment of her children. There are NO LAWS that say you can't make a joke about any subject. If you would like to put forward a list of topics that could be put forward to draft up some legislation, then I would be happy to look at it. But your going to have a very long fight on your hands.

And???? Was the kid aware that a comedian told a joke involving him and his mother? No. There a lot more chance of him finding out once she had gone through every piece of shit redtop and sleb glossy moaning about it. It just made more money for the vacuous old minger. She ought to be grateful, her column inches had begun to shrink.

How many times do I have to ask? What is acceptable/unacceptable. And how do we make it uniform so everyone's sense of humour is tickled but not outraged?

Jokes about incest - stomach churning or funny...? A child raping a parent - stomach churning or funny?

What are we to gain from being subjected to that scenario? That Katie Price had it coming? She works damn hard to provide secure futures for her children.

Frankie Boyle is a bitter, jealous man.

Humour can't be uniformed. We can, however, boycott sadists dressed up as 'comedians'.

But that's the point. You can't tell me what's funny just as I can't tell you. We each have our own opinion as to what is funny and make our own choices as to whether or not to watch. One of the ails of modern Britain is the increasing need for people to be offended on behalf of others who have not in fact raised any objection themselves.

"Frankie's a legend. He's arguably the best comedian this side of the atlantic. He says it how it is.

His banned stand up for comic relief last is stuff off gold. Check it out on you tube if you haven't seen it

How is saying that about an almost blind disabled child, saying it 'like it is' ?"

I know yea o.k he went too far there,I condemn that. But that's him saying it as it is

He's about as funny as a dose of the clap.

I didn't say everybody should find the things I find funny-funny.

I am, however, intrigued as to who finds the gross scenario I outlined in my previous post, funny? As opposed to stomach churning? Just wondering...

Presumably the people who pay good money to watch him knowing full well the kind of material he is likely to use. Of course now he no longer performs standup the professional handwringers will have to content themselves with complaining about his written work.

Ah right. Lovely people"

So now you're criticising people for not sharing your sense of humour. Nice.

Criticise them? No not all. I feel total indifference towards them. Anyone that find's humour in the baiting of a blind autistic innocent child isn't even worthy of contempt

So you have indifference to those who enjoy his humour but feel the need to post your feelings on the man himself. Out of interest did you watch him telling the joke yourself?

His audience didn't tell the joke - he did

Did I watch him telling the 'joke'?.....

If I say I saw him tell the 'joke', you'll ask why was I watching him if I don't like him.. If I say I didn't see him tell the 'joke', you'll say I'm taking his 'joke' out of 'context' and actually had to see his delivery of it...

Either way - it wasn't a 'joke'.

It was a desperate has-been trying to shock

Wiki - A joke is something spoken, written, or done with humorous intention.

As his audience seems to have found something humorous in his remarks and laughed then it fits the criteria of a 'joke'. The fact that you failed to find it humorous is neither here nor there.

Why do you define him as a has been? He doesn't enjoy standup and gave it up while still successful to concentrate on his writing which is where he started. Do you also find Jimmy Carr offensive?

Saw Jimmy Carr this year.

Extremely clever writer and did several jokes about pedophilia.

As bill Hicks's once said.

The best kind of comedy to me is when you make people laugh at things they've never laughed at, and also take a light into the darkened corners of people's minds, exposing them to the light.

"I have seen many disabled comedians, and guess what? They rip the piss out of disabilities themselves. They don't mind others doing it either, if its funny. But disabilities don't have to bring about a lack of sense of humour or po facedness. Stop being offended on someone else's behalf, its that attitude that is belittling the people that you think your defending. They don't need your defence. They can stand on their own two feet, well not all of them obviously, but you get my point."

Do u think Katie Price's son wud laugh if he heard that joke about himself? No because he wouldn't understand it. I work in a special needs school and I do have to be a voice for the kids I work with as they do not have their own voice to say they do or do not find something funny.

I think Katie Price's thought was of the same strain as mine. Harvey CANNOT say if he find something funny or offensive. She was being a voice for her son.

Someone can take the piss out of themselves, im clumsy and do it, if others do it i find it offensive!

My uncle owns a school for down syndrome and autisic children and iv seen first hand them getting upset about people making jokes about what they do or their actions, so may opinion comes from first hand experience so chew on that! "

Amen sister!!

His writers didn't write that 'joke' for him to deliver with humorous intent - they did it for him to shock. Therefore,in my opinion, it isn't a joke.

Do i find Jimmy Carr offensive?

Like you said - what I find humorous is neither here nor there

I find the red top utterings of Katie Price and the gullibility of people who believe them much more offensive than anything Frankie Boyle has ever said.

Well not content with writing his own material he has also written for both Jimmy Carr and Sean Lock in the past you had better cross them of your list of approved comedians.

See, now I'm with Frankie on this subject. I could not give a fuck what any of you think. I know he is funny (to me). Michael Mcintyre he is not, and praise be to Allah for that.

Watch his videos and look at his audience. A very broad section of society. He told a joke about a downs child, and one woman stood up to remonstrate with him. Did he hang his head in shame? Did he fuck. He carried on and would have argued the toss with her if she had bothered to stay. She didn't mind laughing at madeleine mcgann jokes, but heaven forbid he should touch on a subject close to her heart. Well get this. EVERY subject is taboo to someone. So again I ask, what are the subjects that are allowed/disallowed in the upcoming comedy laws? Are we going to get a list as we have for fetish porn?

Look at the titles of his tours. Nobody, and I mean nobody goes in to see frankie expecting an easy ride. Just try sitting on the front row.

Why was she replying to a joke for her son, when he was in perfectly happy ignorance of it? Because it made more headlines for her! Wake up.

Unlike anything that ever came out of Michael McIntyre's mouth IMHO
