93 sites blocked by UK ISPs

Bradford

Most of them blocked by court orders from the MPAA and BPI, in an attempt to cut down on piracy.

Are you downloading less or have you got around the block and it's business as usual?

(better not give details of how you do it, that might be seen as promoting piracy )

Do you actually think the ISPs want you to stop? They make it too easy for a start!

Virgin media push their 150Mb service, what else do they think we would do with the bandwidth?

I found back doors for most of the blocked sites plus a browser that over rides even more of them.

It just leads to the "Barbra Streisand effect" in many cases.

Few years back someone had uploaded a picture of Barbra Streisand's house to the internet. Nobody bothered to look at the photo.

Then one day Barbra Streisand's lawyers filed a lawsuit against the person who'd uploaded the photo claiming a violation of privacy... the guy who uploaded the pic didn't take it down and because of the lawsuit the photo went from complete obscurity (it was previously only viewed 6 times... and 2 of those were Streisand's lawyers!) to overnight fame with almost half a million people viewing it within a month!

So now an attempt to hide, remove, or censor a piece of information that has the unintended consequence of publicising it more widely is known as the Streisand Effect.

Back in my day, there was an art to recording songs from the chart and trying to stop it before the dj talked.

Everyone knew someone who could get them a dodgy tape or video.
