Titz Towers, North Notts

I've just had a quick look through and crikey, I wasn't massively impressed. I think I've circled more things on BBC2 than on any channel. Nothing was circled on ITV, only the Italian Job got a circle for Channel 4 and BBC1 is sparse.

North of The Wall - youll need your vest

I read an article the other day saying that something like 68% of progs on over christmas are repeats, and most of the 32% new progs are just stuff like the soaps.

Whatever happened to all the 'must see' viewing over Christmas eh?

My Own Little World

When I was a 'lass' I seem to remember most series did a Christmas special. But most of the stuff now could be on any time of the year, nothing special

Dr Who Christmas special will be our highlight over Christmas. With Netflix and Sky box office,Amazon and dirt cheap dvds we have all seen the films they air over Christmas. I'm going to look out for any decent Christmas specials and read for the rest of the duration

Titz Towers, North Notts

A lot of the schedules have become fossilised.

BBC1 Christmas evening for the last 8 years or so has been:

Something for the kids,

News update,

Dr Who,

Strictly,

Call the Midwife, or something equivalent to steady undemanding feel good viewing,

Christmas special of a comedy series, but overlong at a hour.

BBC2

Dad's Army, Blackadder, Morecambe and Wise/Two Ronnies

Well, mine would go like this:

BBC1

2PM HM the Queen, mostly as the signal that people can now nod off on the sofa.

2.15 - a big film, bought in special, expense be damned. Not something 3 years old that everyone has seen. If not the 3rd episode of the Hobbit, then the Penguins of Madagascar. Something that everyone can enjoy all together for a change.

16.30 News and weather

17.00 SOMETHING LIGHT FOR TEA. Ie, Professor Brainstawm or The Gruffalo.

18.00 Still Open All Hours. (in my world Christmas specials are ALWAYS 45 minutes long)

18.45 Dr Who

20.00 an all star Christmas one off special comedy drama.

21.30 Live at the Apollo

22.30 A shit scary ghost story for Christmas, with high production values, possibly based on the short story Blackham's Wimpy.

23.30 Late night film - The Eagle has Landed.

I doubt it'll catch on

Loving the look of 8pm but they would have to borrow it off ITV but even though I dont look forward to christmas I love the comedy special all star that appears most years.

The new one doesn't exist in my world. Same as other versions of Get Carter and the Wicker Man.
