There's about a 100 different types of cold, you could have more than one at one time. You wouldn't know though. It's also one reason why there's so many strains of cold, multiple strains trade genetic material and mutate. |

"Anyone else suffering?
Is it possible to catch more than one cold at once? Had anyone done this?
I'm not sure how you'd know!"
I know exactly what you mean as I had a slight cold last week which almost cleared up and now seem to have a new and improved version |

I am an expert cold catcher, and have frequently caught more than two, then re-infected myself with the resultant mutant cold germs
I try hard not to pass on any colds to others, not because I am kind but because they then go and give them back to me just as I am recovering! |

Its definitely possible to have more than one!
Its also not unusual to have a bacterial infection and a viral one at the same time
Antibiotics will clear up the cold caused by the bacteria but not the cold caused by the virus |

Do bacteria ever cause colds? I thought it was just viruses. That's why getting antibiotics for a cold is a bit naughty. Building antibiotic resistance in the population and all that. |

Being both asthmatic and diabetic I hate getting even the slightest cold.
Weak immune system thanks to diabetes.
And I always end up with a chesty cough for weeks and breathing issues, even if it's a minor sniffle.
Drink plenty of fresh water.
Increase protein to aid immune system.
But like most of these things u just have to let it run its course.
Hot toddies, sleep and a good old dose of feeling sorry for one's self is really the only cure. |

The cold is caused by a/the virus. The bacteria is a secondary infection that has taken advantage of the saws/damage done by the cold virus but the bacteria is not actually a cold. (unless things have changed). |

No, bacteria doesn't cause colds!
A cold is a virus, hence why antibiotics don't work.
Bacterial infections happen because of a compromised immune system caused by the cold virus. There is no such bacterial cold! |

Rarely get colds but do protect myself after in case I'm more susceptible to infection. You could get multiple strains of cold and other infections simultaneously but wouldn't generally know if symptoms are matching.
