So last night was my running club's Christmas dinner where awards were handed out to winners of the long and short course leagues, most improved runners, runner of the year etc.

Being new and rather slow I wasn't really in contention for anything...or so I thought!! When the winner of the ladies outstanding individual performance was announced, whose name is called out?? Little old me!!!!

I was so shocked! When they listed the achievements some of the other ladies have done this year in terms of time, distance etc, for me to win it is such an honour!!

I have a trophie and its engraved with my name and everything!!

Woo hoo! Well done you!

You have achieved so much since you started running Evie, it's not always about the fastest or the furthest, sometimes it's about just getting there.

Thanks guys...had to hold back a bit of a blub on the way to collect my trophie

Its just another way that shows how inclusive the running community can be. When I first started going to parkrun and to the club I was so worried that people would mock me because of my size and how slow I was but the support and encouragement has totally blown me away!

This really is the best thing I ever decided to do

Well done. A fantastic achievement.

Parkrun is a fabby group isn't it? On ours is a guy that always finishes between 15-20 minutes. But he stays until every last person has crossed the line cheering everyone on.

good on him redangel ...those members are priceless ..the boost they can give to members who find it a struggle is all the difference ...to anyone who is thinking of trying to get fit i would really recommend a running club ..it really is a community and a support network intertwinned
