Having just endured 200 miles of mostly motorway driving over the last 24hrs. I have witnessed some bloody awful driving! I'm sure lots of these mad drivers are very normal people when not driving.
I'd say I'm fairly placid as a driver, I don't tend to shout or get aggressive. I used to get wound up but age has calmed me down.
I had to attend a speed awareness course 18 months ago and that's slowed me down too. Which is a good thing.
So do you change when you're driving ? |

When I was younger I was one of those aggressive, angry and always in a rush types. I got home with blood pressure through the roof and properly pissed off. Nowadays, I'm much more mellow, just get to where I'm going as long as it takes me. I now arrive much more chilled and able to function. |

I drive nice and steady
I try keep below 3500RPM because my car uses more fuel after that and above 5250RPM I get about 11MPG
So no racing around for me |

A Massey Ferguson is so much more reliable.
I don't get angry or annoyed, but I do drive along making comments on other peoples driving... My 5 year old has been known to say "Oh look mummy, another car that has optional indicators!" OOps. |

Ha ha! Out of the mouths of babes. My sister used to very bizarrely drive along making car engine noises. Until one day she was sat at a set of traffic lights doing it, having forgotten her car window was open! The lad in the lane next to her was staring at her like she was nuts! |

Put on Radio 4 and learn or laugh as you drive...
Also an automatic makes for a more peaceful drive.
Also - Mint Imperials thrown backwards through your sunroof gets rid of most tailgaters!! |

I tend to drive in a particular way when i'm on my own and with no passengers.
If i have people in the car, then i do change my style of driving to a certain extent. For me personally - responsibilities change.
...but my driving as a whole is generally the same i believe.

It depends. Sometimes I drive like I have all the time I the world, letting everyone else try and kill themself. Then there are the odd time when I am the psycho on the road, though I have to say those days are few and far between. Life is too short. |

My brother told my other half that he drove ' like tw4t ' , when he queried the reason , he was told ' yesterday you set off from the lights like your arse was on fire racing that boyracer next to you ' when he was told that he wasn't driving that day and that he'd given me the car ...... Took a bit of explaining ..... |

I was a total road rage addict as a young man. Years later I think one thing made me see another side. A guy was coming along a main rd as I was pulling out of a car park onto a mini roundabout. . I had right of way but I could tell he wasn't going to stop . So i edged out as he came across, so he'd know he'd messed up . He looked at me and his face showed he was shocked. . Once behind him. . I saw him put up his hand as a sorry. All the anger in me dissolved. Really taught me a lesson that did |

I've also spent a few years driving a lorry in towns etc. Taught me great anticipation skills and courtesy . Nowdays if someone does something stupid directly to me. . I either just shake my head or hold up my hands as if to say 'what was that ? ' people often say sorry and it's done. Tell you what is funny. . E mailing of calling a company who's driver has been acting the twerp. . Nothing better than reasonable indignation. Ha |

Do about 50k miles a year - that's a big part of life in a car - very relaxed, get there when you get there attitude - be in a box, 6' under otherwise
Lots of poor drivers who feel safe in their own car, but completely oblivious to any one else! |

Here's a funny one. Last night i'm driving down my street about 150 yards from home. A car comes from a side street at about 40mph and slams on the brakes to give way. . He's cut the corner so much, he's on the right rather than left. . So after i pass . . I decide it's time for him to slow down. Kids live on this rd . . So of course he's right up behind. . Flashing lights etc. . Parked cars either side. . So i stop . . Then crawl. . Bless him. . I see a car coming up the hill. . So i pull in to let him go. . Of course my friend now has to pass me. . . And he stops alongside. . I smile and wave . . He's livid. . Shouts something and spits at my car (it's very dirty already) off he speeds . I chuckle . What he's not realised is that it's pretty obvious he lives on the road he was speeding out of . His parents may get a letter soon ! Ha |

I wouldn't say I change to much behind the wheel as I tend to be the sort of person that's chilled and as long as i have some music on to keep me occupied then I just go about my won business.
Lifes to short to get angry behind the wheel.
I have seen some epic arguments though whilst driving around where people have properly lost the plot and are now becoming a danger to other drivers. |
