Hereabouts

Feel like crying.

I've been signed off sick for 8 weeks. I know SSP sucks. But I get paid 4 weekly so I worked out 4 weeks worth of SSP. I've somehow been taxed 28% this month. How does that work??

Either that or I've been paid less than 3 weeks worth of SSP.

I want to be back at work but can't yet. I don't really know what to do with myself. I can't cry cos that solves nothing. I don't even know why I'm posting this here, maybe some of you have a better idea about this than me!

Not exactly sure but if you are off six weeks paying no tax you can claim some tax back on your wages over the year.I know its not much help now but maybe worth looking into

They don't pay SSP for the first 3 days off sick. Could that be why you seem to have less than you thought?

I'm still getting emergency taxed, and SSP is taxable income. I was supposed to get around £100 more if I wasn't taxes on it at all

My boss won't allow me to go back until an occupational therapist has assessed my medical notes. I would cost the company too much money if I were to go back before I'm healed and something went wrong. They have extended my probationary period, so maybe head office has only paid me until the end of when my probationary period was supposed to end. I'll call work tomorrow to find out.

If your contact has not been terminated then you are still employed and so should be paid in line with their sickness policy.

I don't know about ssp but is there a finite amount of time you can claim it?

I really hope you can get it sorted - have a chat to your employer, they already sound pretty good if they are extending a probationary period

I hope you are feeling much better soon.
