Paying by debit card

Today while putting petrol in the car,went to pay and the debit card machine read add 25p to charity (yes/no)never seen this before ,has anyone else came across this ,is it new or been going on for some time?

I've not seen it personally but there was a big chat about it on my town local FB page a few weeks ago as the lady was concerned there was no mention of what charity and she thought the petrol station was somehow on the fiddle.

Yeah it didn't say any specific charity just charity

Yeah that is a bit dodgy, I always thought that any charity collections had to be named with the charity number etc.

This happened in my local sainsburys. The cashier asked if I wanted to round up my bill for charity. I just said no as she didn't have any info on which charity.

Yeah this seems to be all over the place know have seen in a few restaurants. Also pops up when purchasing online

You would think that somewhere they'd be a small poster saying which charity although it actually may be linked to your bank request who knows.
