So I went and bought a new TV this morning (Samsung 40" LED) for £250. The shop is a 10 min walk from ma flat. The salesman asked if I wanted it delivered for another £10 and an extra £35 to set it up.
I carried it home and am now doing some D.I.Y. with half a dozen screws and a couple of cables. Had I taken up his fantastic offer, it would have made the TV nearly 20% more expensive.
I know it was optional, but it's Thursday and I haven't had a rant for ages ![](/icons/s/2/halo.gif) |

Sadly though some people need to pay the extra because they are not capable
I end up setting peoples up. I object to friends and family paying the extra
a worthy rant |

It always amuses me when I get asked if I want to take out an extended warranty. I know the peeps on the till are just doing what they've been told to do, but my logic is that if you are buying a £200 Dyson, it will probably last 3 years before suffering from a mysterious accident involving Orcs. ![](/icons/s/2/cute.gif) |

I'm just waiting for my smart TV being delivered today.. I had no choice but pay the delivery (which I don't mind cos it would have cost me twice that in a taxi) I didn't want the installation when I ordered because of the 35 quid charge but because they were meant to deliver Tuesday and didn't, they phoned me and said they would install it for FREE for inconvienience... WINNER!!! ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

That has always made me so mad ...delivery charge GRRR you go and spend hundreds if not thousands on some thing new for your home. Like a cooker, fridge and washing machine then you have to pay out more for delivery...wonder what the store would say if you said fuck it im not paying that. Why don't they included it the price then every one is happy ...sorry for the rant always been a thorn in my side that |

I've just spent less than 10 minutes unpacking and setting up my new tv. A few of those minutes were wasted and spent swearing while trying to find a small screwdriver for the stand ![](/icons/s/2/eh.gif) |

I've done that, and been almost out of the door then they've come after me to make sure they get the sale. Doesn't always work but its satisfying when it does. Like buying a used car, you have to be prepared to walk away if they won't come down in price. Its all about cojhones! |

I bout a George Foreman grilling machine earlier as a present for someone, £20, bargain.
For an extra £5 you could take out 3 year protection.
Ohh go fuck yaself and just give me the fucking ticket with my collection point on. |

"They try to sell you a three year warranty which in effect is only two as you get a one year warranty on any electrical item as standard "
Isn't there some EC regulation/directive that says it's a minimum of two, and upto 6 years (variavle as to spec and price).

Goods should last a reasonable time and this can be far longer than the year statutory guarantee. Eg a top spec oven is expected to last several years whereas a £5 toaster the year. Shops won't be too quick to point this out if you have a problem though .....prob due to all the grumpy whining whinging gits complaining about nothing ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |
