"You need to go back to work
"
Ahem... I am Ironing! I have to watch something on TV while I am ironing and that was the best I could find. I've recorded it and it just gets better each time I see it. There's always something you didn't see before. It's a classic. |

"Are they called a pair of ladders or a set of ladders?"
They are known singularly as a 'ladder'. Two of them would be a pair, or a set. Even those that are like an inverted 'V' with stays to keep the two halves at a fixed angle are called a 'step-ladder'. |

You can definately get a ladder in a pair of tights |

"So is it
'I'll go and get the ladders'
OR
'I'll go and get the ladder ' "
The latter. It sounds quirky I know, but ladders only applies if there are two or more of them. |

I know that wishy, but most of the ladders I know of are in pairs, you know those extendable ones !!!
So they'd be ladders |

They are regarded as a single ladder that has been cut into two or more pieces and fixed together so they can be extended back to their original length, and are known as an extension ladder. |

So the single is now 2 or more and now known as ladders...
I'm so pleased we are having this conversation |

I was installing a burglar alarm and was given the wrong ladder.
The company deserved to be sued for employing an idiot to do a professional job.
I am no DIYer but even I know to secure the top and bottom of a ladder before ascending it.
What kind of knob gets a job as a professional burglar alarm installer without knowing basic personal safety, shame they don't name the company I would certainly want to avoid them and thier cowboy installers. |

Or the kid at school who broke his toe playing football in the school yard at playtime and got £7000 in compensation, it was shown on TV in a programme about "sue crazy britain" and you could see how the parents didn't give a toss about the kid they were just angling for as much money as they could get and had already planned the family holiday with some of the "winnings" |

Didn't they do some basic checks, for example:
Are you a dozey, accident prone bint?
~
Had a mate years ago who was accident prone, always breaking something or falling through roofs etc...
He got fed up of the building trade and came up the pub one night proudly exclaiming he had a new job...
We all fell about when he told us who he'd be working for...
...wait for it...
..
..
.
The Accident Group!
Talk about over-qualified! |
