whilst you're out and about today, try and pick out all the barriers that you come across that are an obstruction for disabled people. Remember its society that disables, not the impairment; long term health condition or mental ill health. |

"I'm not disabled but my son is. "
You have the same protected characteristics under the Equality Act as a disabled person by association Steve. it don't mean that you will receive any more money; as I am sure that you would want every penny that can help your son to meet the additional costs incurred as a disabled person in going about his day to day life to go straight to him, but you are protected as his father should you need your employer or anyone to make a reasonable adjustment for you so that you can support your son.

I often get shouted at for using a disabled bay because I am not old or in a wheel chair, wish sometimes people would bite their tongue and realise not all disabilities are clear cut to an outsider. But the ones who do abuse the BB should be made to live the life for a few weeks.  |

Also look at ways you can support carers. Most of them are struggling. |

the law and identifying what constitues direct discrimination compared with indirect discrimination may slow you down a bit, but should that prevent a problem we may be able to fit in some extra course work |

im disabled with ms.. I have a blue badge and whilst being disabled is at best a bit of a problem there is an upside.. when u pull into a disability parking bay and before u place ur blue badge on the dash .. look up and see disapproving looks for the old coffin dodgers who think only the old should have a blue badge give you the... ur not disabled look.. and then produce ur badge and smile at them... assholes... |

Hahahaha, yeah I think that it happens a lot, I use my blue badge when my facilitator takes me to the supermarket, and I get the accusing glances from people around, till I hitch up the tailgate and Marshall pops out.

i was shocked at the staggering number
of partially sighted/visually impaired people who would benefit from using a white stick refuse to use them due to the abuse they receive because they are not
completely blind ...they get accused of being benefit scroungers ...dodging work etc ...awful ! |

Hmmm, if the accusers were to look closer at the employers that dodge their obligations to treat people equally and recruit Blind & partially sighted people on their merit, there wouldn't be 75% of visually impaired adults of working age having to claim employment support allowance (ESA) and stuck in the support group by Job Centre Plus as they have given up with the difficulty of finding employment for them.  |
