The sex shop in Bolton, on St Georges road had finally had a makeover. Don't know if its got new owners but it actually looks open for business. Its been there for at least 40 years and in all that time it had never had a lick of paint. It always looked boarded up, dingy, dirt and closed. Now it looks clean, (half) respectable and less imposing. They really need to get rid of the bus stop right outside though.  |

Years ago my mate was coming out of the door onto the street with a big bag of "periodicals", tripped up went sprawling on the floor everything from out of the bag, just as the bus pulled up. His dad was on it! |

Omg, I didn't realise it was still there, I did my training there as a young girl when it was a hairdressers and the bus top was there then, im amazed the shops are still there, couldn't belive they turned it into a sex shop when the salon closed as there used to be a christian book shop opposite  "
So when were you there? Its been a sex shop since at least the eighties. Pretty sure it was one before then as it used to advertise in the back of porn mags (my dads!). Private it was called. Still is, I think its a chain. |

I was there till I locked the door for the last time, which was in the end of 1980, it was sold to a small business group, who turned out to be the private shop chain, all hell was let loose when the windows where painted black and it opened as the private shop, up untill then im sure the nearest on was manchester way lol, if you search through the Bolton evening news archives you will find something as I know it made local news reports due to the surrounding businesses and also a large church just on the split on chorley old and chorley new rd, |
