So today is the 1st of the month so I've said white rabbits, white rabbits, white rabbits to everyone in my house. Plus texted my best male friend, as he thinks it's a ridiculous thing to do, so I text every month and get a rude response!
I can now sing Christmas Carols as it's December, otherwise it's bad luck. I saluted a magpie on my drive into work this morning, I never cross on the stairs. I'm thinking I'm way to superstitious for my own good !
Are you the same or do you think it's a load of garbage ? |

I don't really understand superstition at all. I'm an atheist but I can understand why believers pray, they believe they are speaking to their god etc, however when you say 'white rabbits' 3 times to everyone, who do you think is listening to make sure you say it and why do you think it will impact negatively on your life if you don't? |

I think it's probably not true but we humans need to believe that bad things only happen for a reason hence superstition. The reality is bad things happen whether you touch wood or not so do good things...I still do it though  |

To be honest it's just a ritual I guess. White rabbits I get from my Mum as she always did it.
Aren't lots of superstitions from Pagans ? I'm sure the not crossing on the stairs one is.

Never heard the knife one. Can you pick it up after a certain length of time ? The one I know is you give someone a coin if they give you a knife or scissors as a present. My Nan still does that. I can't remember the reasoning now though. |
