Spent Christmas in Australia years back. Was strange in such a hot climate! Australia is certainly a beautiful place. Matt

I love Australia, but I don't think a hot Christmas would feel right, so I like Christmas in this country. I have been abroad in early December though and did enjoy being away when it was freezing here and boiling there!

Have been to the Canaries once and to India 3 times at Christmas - both before having children - both very different - and both excellent

My daughter lives in Australia and I spent Christmas there four years ago. Didn't feel very Christmasy and was rather odd that people sprayed fake snow on their windows. 36 degrees on New Year's Eve was a little surreal too.

An interesting note is that abel tasman (the man Tasmania got it's name from) sailed right round Australia without ever noticing it before discovering the small island of Tasmania at the bottom of it

Had Christmas on Bondi. It was highly unusual not having a chill or possible snow. All it meant was we had to cool off a lot earlier - obviously meaning booze!

Was a great experience, though If I lived there, I would come back to the UK just for the cold

I'm not long back from oz and love it. I've done Christmas and new year there.

Beware of my fellow Sydney uni students and research though

I'm abroad for a warm Christmas every year, so it seems normal. It does take some adjustment but nice to avoid long nights and uk cold.
