"Geddy Lee. Bassist and Lead Singer with Rush"
Not an unsung hero. Us '70's fans know him well. A star. Though perhaps a little too high pitched vocally for my tastes these days. Hey, a man can mature. |

3 of my favourites are girls called Kim (Coletta, Deal and Gordon). The bass god that was James Jamerson can't be ignored. Or Carol Kaye either.
All hail the bassists. Melody, soul and rooting the rhythm. The overlooked heart of many a band. |

Here's my starter for ten
Ronnie Lane (The Faces)
Dee Dee Ramone (The Ramones)
Bernard Edwards (Chic)
Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath)
Stu Cook (Creedence Clearwater Revival)
Jerry Jemmot (to many to mention)
Tom Evans (Badfinger)
Bruce Foxton (The Jam)
Mark Bedford (Madness)
Andy Rourke (The Smiths)
There are many more of course |

It's not that he doesn't fit in. He seems to get on great and fit in with the others. It's that stupid dancing he does. Guess I miss Jason Newsted....... |

Clapton got the glory, Rory definitely had the chops. He was far and away better than Clapton, even Hendrix agreed. |

Every Rory fan knows that Jimi quote,Rory was the reason I picked up a guitar I'd being a fan of said others but when you hear how he made it sing let his emotion out through his guitar I said I gotta try me some of that, near 20 years later I'm still trying |

I'm a massive fan of Burtons stuff and Trujillo has a similar sound but most of the live videos I've seen are from the Newsted era and his enthusiasm on stage was brilliant. |

I'm not sure if it's been said but I think McCartney was a fantastic bass player.
And jpj from Zeppelin
Roger waters from Floyd
Obviously the ox who
Steely Dan used some fantastic session players and I'm a massive fan of theirs and I remember once looking at the guy who played lead on do it again (best rifts ever in any song) and he retired and is now a fucking computer programmer.... Wtf |

Come on! Admit it! A bass player is just a guitarist who wasnt quite as good as the other guitarists in the band!
I'm running off to hide now! |

I knew you were a bass player, chip on your shoulder because your bass is too heavy? Oversensitive because nobody appreciates your efforts?
Bass players should know their place...stood at the back near the drummer so the singer can wiggle his arse at the audience unencumbered by your massive axe. And the lead guitarist needs plenty of room to pull those stupid faces when he bends the high notes.
I don't like the Spice Girls. I like Zappa. He COULD play guitar. |

"Stick to the playing with our mouth organ! And let grown ups talk real music!"
So I'm not allowed to make jokes about bass players? Is that bassist? I am quite a fan of music. A very broad spectrum. Mainly prog. However, I am not so pompous as to tell people to keep their views to themselves if they are not prepared to take things as seriously as me. I like to have a laugh. Try it. You might like it. |

"Funny that! So can i! A left handed 1 tho!!"
One of mine is left handed. But if I turn it upside down it goes right handed. Does that mean its worth more? Im buying my nephew new drumsticks for christmas. I got them from a bloke in a pub. Apparently Rick Allen had loads of left ones, and he was giving them away. Do you think two lefties will sound as good? Will he notice? Hes still taking lessons. |

As a bass player I have heard it all...
How do you get a bass player off your doorstep? Pay for your pizza.
How do you know a lead singer is at your front door? He comes in late and with the wrong key.
Did you hear about the drummer so embarrased about his lack of timing? He ended up throwing himself behind a train.
How many lead guitarists does it take to change a light bulb? None. They just hog the limelight. |

As a lead guitar player I find that last one hilarious...
It's also true! |
