So I'm at the hospital waiting for a scan in a little side room all by myself.
And there's the emergency alert pull cord. It's bright red with a big red loop handle and on it.
Why am I so tempted to pull it that I end up sitting on my hands to make sure I don't? I was itching to pull it!
Has anyone ever done it? Set off a fire alarm or something just for the hell of it? |

"I think it's repression from being too well-behaved as a child to play knock down ginger."
Pull it,all that will happen is that everyone will come running and they'll be so relieved they don't have an actual emergency on their hands they'll forgive you for pulling 'accidentally' |

They came to take me for my scan before it all got too much. I'm now safely away from temptation. |

Weird isn't it, allways want to do this in disable loos (when it's the only alternative I might add). It's like being near a cliff and being drawn to the edge |

I was staying in a hotel once and they put us in a disabled room. The emergency cord in the shower was right next to the light switch and Blondie here pulled the wrong switch three times on the first night. Reception then had to ring up to check everything was ok I asked them to ignore the alarms in the end. |

"I let a fire extinguisher off once.
My mate and I were playing with the tag thing and woooosh.
We got sent home from Sunday School
We were six "
We did that when we were kids. In the summer hold we cut through the school as a shortcut and found the canteen door ajar. We found a dry powder extinguisher. We covered every conceivable surface with a fine yellow powder. Still feel guilty! |

According to psychologists its our brain trying to tell us not to do things. ..but getting it wrong.
Ie seeing the cord and imagining pulling it to tell us not to.
Seeing a cliff and imagining jumping! You don't want to but you feel like you've actually considered it for a minute. |

Up on them there hills |
Ha ha, the brain can't work off negatives, it has to have a mental images of you doing it to understand meaning.
You might say, 'don't do this.'
And your brain makes an image of you doing it then asks, 'you mean this?'
Think about saying, 'I want to stop smoking.'
Brain produces an image of you smoking and says,'you mean this?' |
