Knotting or (k)not

Somewhere in North Norfolk

I have some skirting board to prepare prior to affixing.

It's bare wood with a fair few knots. I shall be varnishing it with clear varnish.

Should I or should I (k)not seal the knots with knotting first?

(I'm going to use knotting. I only posted so I could use the title)

I'd say yes just so you don't get any oozing later to spoil the finish after putting the hard work in

Just a good quality varnish will suffice

A couple of costs of thinned down varnish to seal it all

Then a good de- nib and a final finish coat

To knot or not to knot, that is the question,

Whether 'tis nobler in the knot not to knot

It was ropey to begin with

Apologies to VV for assisting in derailing this thread; I can't help but string it along although some of my puns are money for old rope

It's all getting a bit unravelled now tho. Needs someone to tie up the loose ends? Maybe I could get my granny to help?
