Is there a shelf live on FWB agreements?
I see it all too often, people have brilliant relationships with their FWB but then they end up going from best friends to strangers/enemies due to mixed signals or falling out.
I like FWB arrangements where you go out to dinner etc as mates. My last true FWB lasted a good few months and it only ended as I met someone but 5 years later we still chat; however I see that, that isn't usually the case so I'm wondering if it really is best to keep it far more casual than that?

interesting topic, I have had a few in the recent years and they have lasted on average about 4 months, probably to do with the shifts I work and the lack of time available to commit and distance apart.
currently, I'm remaining single...... |

I've had a FWB off and on since I was 17 (now 21 years) sometimes the sexual side dies off as we have both been in various relationships over that time, but we are always friends, and talk about once a week.
Another one, off and on for over 12 years now.
I tend to do better with FWB than relationships as I have never fallen in love, and don't get the romantic stuff. |

Mine have lasted between 2 to 4 years and still going. They always end amicably,they get a gf or move away. There never is any arrangement,we just hang out and have sex when we're both free. When it ends it ends. |

My fb and I made an agreement that it would be NSA sex which meant just that. We chat a bit between meets, she meets other men, I meet other women, we sometimes meet up. No jealousy. It works well and the arrangement is nearly 2 years old. |

My last one was 5 years and it was good while it lasted but then I just wasn't feeling it anymore after a couple of things started to chip away at what was a good thing. I can honestly look back on most of it with fondness so I got out at the right time. |

In between relationships I have had 2 fwb and both lasted 2 years before crashing and burning mainly because I was a typical guy and wanted sex and they wanted more. One moved to York and I don't talk to her the other Southampton and she visits from time to time but we don't play. |

I think this is when it works.
The thing is that some of these "arrangements" have bloomed into relationships and some people want that. But going down the FWB route can lead to issues if both people are not wanting the same thing. That's when people fall out.
It's never a nice thing and the last thing that anyone wants. |

I've had them last over 5 years, so I think it all depends on the two of you, what's going on in your lives etc.
I'd not like a fwb to be dropped because of dating but it can happen. Sometimes the sex can become less satisfying if your tastes change.
Unless there are other milestones, you can lose track of time, as you don't usually celebrate anniversaries, and it just rolls on and on.
Usually they last about 6 months or so and we realise it's run its course. Not had any issues apart from a guy who wanted fun most nights which was too intrusive into my life schedule.
I tend to do well with young guys, perhaps before they settle down, or guys between relationships. Always worth looking at as a comfortable life option. |

Mine lasted for 4 years on and off. We had weekends away together, social events, talked and text regularly between meeting.
I met someone and was in a relationship for a year and didn't see him at all but kept in touch. When I was single again we picked up where we left off.
What each of us did in our own time was up to us....he saw other women and I met other men.
When I entered a new relationship after 4 years he didn't want to remain friends as he had deeper feelings for me
I miss his friendship but understand his decision... |

Ive never had one and wouldn't want one even if I was single,any label like fb or fwb on a friendship or relationship seems to cause issues with one of the 'couple' at some stage |
