There was a head line news on in the papers this week about young professionals paying for sex and that 9 out of 10 people had paid a prostitute or escort or sex.
Is this begining to be acceptable or something that shouldn't be happening.
Would be interesting to hear the men and women's thoughts |

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum |
While I can't comment on what people spend their own money on, I do believe that supporting prostitution is wrong. An escort at least has a choice who they meet and have sex with, but a lot of prostitution is supported by the sex slave industry. |

ive thought about it but my interest in a long term relationship really takes over.
If id to comment on it...I think life is getting hardly and harder, and seeking a NSA bang without a lot of dating/chatting blah blah certainly has its uses. |

"Hey I think its always been acceptable isn't it _iewed as the oldest profession ,I myself would never pay directly but indirectly we all pay for sex "
Lots of people say that and it seems to me it's mostly men. I genuinely don't understand why though, can you enlighten me? |

"Maybe its time brothels were legalized so they can monitored and regulated. "
Agreed it wouldn't stop trafficking all together but it would help and it would offer sex workers a degree of protection. |

I agree with that..they have been doing it in the rest of Europe for years..its about time the UK grew out of its Victorian values and gets with the programme |

That's very high, 9 out of 10!
Prostitution is a terrible industry, largely supporting drug habits and other people, rather than escorts who often just use it as a primary income.
I don't think it's acceptable in society's eyes, but if it was legalised or even just controlled nationally it would help. |

I don't get the saying we all indirectly pay for sex. |

Its about time it was legalised.
Regulate it as an industry, in particular areas, self employed income, tax, NI etc.
Takes the 'pimp' element out of it, makes it safer for those involved etc etc
I really don't see why we are so prudish about it, perhaps its just inherent to the English psyche. |

"Should be legalised and at least this would ensure that HMRC get their share of the taxes due. Would hopefully also eliminate pimping. How you spend your money is no one else's Businness. "

It's 1 in 9, not 9/10. About half of the men on my team at work have paid for sex, but that's just because we have clients in certain European cities where it's more socially acceptable. None have paid for an escort in London. |

I couldn't care less, it's none of my business. Though they do tell some funny stories afterwards. |

Why shouldn't it be happening ?
It's not illegal. |

Prostitution and drugs are not going away so our legal framework should be set to protect the population.
Everyone's income and body is their property to with as they wish. Trafficking is a red herring that's thrown in to distract us.
I think it's somewhat more accepted now to use escorts etc. It would have been very commonplace some years ago when men were more dominant in society. |

No it is not and never has been socially acceptable in Europe.
No idea what you base this on. Russia I guess, but a whore is a whore- and Russia is a Christian country. |

"There was a thread along the same line but the survey was 1 out of 10. Either way it's morally wrong."
is it? if the person selling it is doing it of their own free will then why is it morally wrong? I know people that have been on both sides of the coin and cannot see anything wrong with either of their morals. |

Most escorts do pay tax. They have it as a professional role and it's their sole income. It's legal as you are paying for the escorts time, not to have sex with them, any sexual acts are at the escorts discression
Prostitutes work on the street and that is illegal, that's where taxes are usually not paid, the girls often work for a pimps and are often part of the sex slave industry |

i certainly think the industry should face an overhaul and some kind of standardization. It is illegal to run a brothel or solicit sex in this country. But with the proper framework and protections put in place then why shouldn't an man or woman sell sex for themselves if that's what they want. We as a nation tend towards a prudish and conservative culture towards sex. |

We have to accept that you'll never eliminate demand and thus there will always be a market.
By criminalising the market, you put it in the hands of criminals.
By de-criminalising, it can be regulated and monitored for the safety of all concerned, though of course there will always be risk.
The same is true for illegal drugs. |

Perhaps your point would be stronger if you'd chosen a country where prostitution is legal and didn't use the phrase "a whore is a whore". I can only assume you've never been to Prague, Amsterdam, Antwerp, Vienna or any major city in Germany. |

Hey, I saw your first response. You know, the one that was so aggressive you deleted it. Naughty girl.
I started working Europe and visiting their sex clubs late 80s, prob before you were born. Germany, amsterdam etc etc-every single country. my ex lived near the rieperbahn if ya even know what that is.
Think of it as a bit like swinging. legal yes, but not socially acceptable. If it was, you would have your face pic on your public profile.
Thanks |

Cool, if you've visited every country you must know what I mean about prostitution and brothels being more socially acceptable in certain cities than the UK then. Which is exactly what I originally said. |
