which means their new encryption will be rolled out in the area soon so won't be able to use the "other" box to view premium channels ...

better ensure get to record more of the porn channels before the end comes

I work for V/Media and it's quite normal practice to update smart cards and set top box software to combat this type of fraud. We also do a cabinet cleanse in areas where we are sure the street cabinets have been tampered with. Often we find that people have somehow gained a key to the cabinet (the old style just had a triangular shaped key so they weren't hard to get hold of), and once inside they just reconnect all the disconnected cables to a free port. This means it's very difficult to trace them back to a particular house and say accuse them of illegally entering the cabinet. So we just cleanes it and anyone who is connected that isn't on our records gets disconnected again and the cable removed entirely.

The smart cards are slightly different as there are many different versions of the set top box out there and lots and lots of inline de-scrambling boxes that have been purchased from dodgy engineers. We get them all eventually but we don't prosecute as it's hard to prove how they came by them. Far easier to just update the box remotely and anyone who has a dodgy box will find it pretty much useless by the time we're finished.

if you cant tell what house belongs to what cable that has been ilegaly connected , how do you know what ones to pull off when you look in the box and see more are connected than should be ?

anyway when i look at a channel and its scrambled it just makes me realise how childish the company are to do it

it would make no difference to let people see the channels in the clear if they swore on oath that they would under no circumstances pay for the channel or package in the first place

its the same old rich poor divide

the rich get private health care , drive big cars , live in big houses , eat in ala carte restaurants , and now watch all the latest movies and documentarys

and the poor have to sit there hovel coughing , eating budget fish fingers and tesco brand beans , and having to watch the darling buds of may , and re runs of star trek series one
