Happy happy lady today got my decree absolute through so I'm officially single no ties! Already changed my name at bank etc this morning!
Funny how one little piece of paper can make you so very very happy!

Well the papers to nisi was mid feb to early april, then you have to wait six weeks from date of nisi to apply for absolute which is done on the same day!
Mine should have been done in June but my ex took this long to apply for the absolute as he paid for it! |

Me too....the divorce thing...not the single thing
First time I'm legally single in 25 years (August)
Going to look at a house tonight now the dosh is finally sorted...my first ever "pad"
Quite exciting really....to have a place where you can do exactly what you want
Btw I represented myself....was easy tbh |

Think its all down to how busy the courts are its gone through etc i know uncontested they are pretty fast so fingers crossed if you get the nisi in Jan you should be ok x |

dont get me wrong it was what i wanted and was the best thing - so glad it was all over but seeing it in writing just made me sad - wasnt what i had hoped for us and the kids |

Sounds like a pointless reason to dismiss someone to me, couldn't you simply cover the tattoos up? |

I think you need to go back and challenge them about it, it sounds like a ridiculous reason sack someone over such an easily remedied matter. |

Firstly Kate, congrats on the divorce coming through.
Sorry to hear about your job but as someone else said above, I'd go for the unfair dismissal claim aswel, take the bastids to court for everything you can get.
Seems like a stupid policy to have about tattoos, could easily be covered up with long sleeves if they are on your wrists. It seems to me more younger people these days have tattoos than don't have them. |

How long had you been in your job for? Do you have proof they brought this policy in after you started? I wonder if you could speak to a union about it?

not sure that you get any employment rights after dismissal if you haven't worked for the employer for a minimum of 2 years ..... it used to be 1 year before 2012

The cost to take someone to a tribunal costs over a grand now which I dont have to start it off so really I have no chance of doing it!

It only costs if you lose they assess cases now and send them back if they are not valid unfair dismissal is usually easy to prove always worth a no win no fee solicitor but really would need to be employment law and you can represent yourself citizens advice bureau are a good source can't give you more help without the ins and outs. |
