Reminded by another forum post of Devils advocate from the late 90s anybody out there got suggestions of programs from the past that could replace modern tripe like Jermey Kyle |

If anyone wants a bit of nostalgia, go to tv-ark.org.
It could be easier to navigate around, but has shit loads of clips from old shows, ads, eve, those station idents from years ago (remember the Thames, LWT, ATV, Anglia knight etc themes?!) |

Remakes aren't always that kind. I doubt a remake of The Sweeney would take off, as it was really a programme of its' time and a lot of the charm in watching it comes from nostalgia. It would be just like any other cop show in a remake.
Other shows, such as Early Doors (almost criminally underrated in my mind) ran a natural course and I think a 3rd series would have just diluted the quality, as it would be more of the same.
I think Treasure Hunt could be resurrected, the same with Wanted. Both strong formats (Wanted was ahead of its' time), with enough leeway to be developed, rather than just copied.
I'd like to see The Comedians done anew, but in a good slot, late night on a Friday night on the BBC. Instead of the usual faces, there are a lot of circuit comedians, doing 10 and 20 spots that are relatively unknown, but who are very entertaining and could both benefit from the exposure and give the audience a lot of laughs. |

The thing with all these programmes is that you remember them with rose tinted specs. If you go back and watch an episode of most of them now, you realise they're actually utter gash and totally 'of their time' and that most TV is really much better nowadays (with the exception of Jeremy Kyle, Loose Women and Deal or No Deal which all should be killed with fire)
3,2,1 was utter mince (although I remember it as being good Saturday night stuff) and they've tried to bring back a few golden oldies over the years, things like Blockbusters, 15 to 1 and others but they're never as good as you remember them. I see Surprise Surprise is back again with Holly Willibooby as well! |

"Voyage to the bottom of the sea
On the buses
The man from Uncle
Forgot voyage to the bottom of the sea that was great and Man from uncle"
When I was a kid (one of 6) we were each allowed to sit up late one night a week with mum and dad. My night was 'voyage to the bottom of the sea' - great childhood memories! |

"Blakes seven from childhood, Prisoner cell block H from adolescent years, and Touch of frost from adulthood."
I rather enjoyed Blakes 7 - Had the entire final season on Video years ago.
OK, so the props and acting were a bit wooden, but it was made at the end of the 70's and beginning of the 80's.
There has been talk of a remake for years, but nothing concrete ever seems to happen.
