Will watch it again but didn't think too much of it at the pics which surprised me as I so have an interest in horses.

The book, the play and the film all have different strengths. I have loved all the genres with which the story has been told.

I'll record or watch on the night. Whenever I watch it I cry.

we saw it at the National and then watched the film which we should have waited longer to do, initially disappointed but its not a bad film having seen it again..

I haven't made it to the theatre production, I'm seriously disappointed in myself, those puppets are inspired!

I didn't enjoy reading the book which I thought was very poorly written. Watched the film and one particular scene had me gasping with horror and sobbing my heart out. Would love to see the theatre production.

It's a costume drama and I am sticking to the hankies. I dress up for Downton, don't you know?

"Have I missed it? What side was it/is it on?"

BBC1. It's just finished.

I cry at ploughing the field, I cry when he has to pull the canon up that hill, I cry when he gets tangled in the wire, I cry when he is reunited with his boy and then I cry at the end just for good measure.

It's a boy and his friend story with WWI thrown in. How did you manage not to cry?

I cried too much when I first saw the film as I was in a very bad place at that time. I cried a bit when I saw it at the theatre and I did cry a bit when I read the book the first time. I cried less this time. I'm a wimp.

South Devon

Translating the stage version to film was always going to be a challenge, the originality of the puppetry difficult to portray on film.

However Spielberg understood completely the message..it's not a war story..it's not a horse story...it's a people story.
