I think it's based on a deep awareness of how things happen that leads to a calmness when faced with difficult decisions and can have a calming influence on others. I think wisdom is demonstrated though word and deed and more likely to be noticed by others than oneself. |

So that can be demonstrated by the "wise head on young shoulders" as well as the sage old owls?

yes I've know people who are wise beyond their years. I guess it is also relative too. So wisdom would look different depending on your perspective and frame of reference |

Can I defer to Confucius:
“By three methods we may learn wisdom: first, by reflection, which is noblest; second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third, by experience, which is the most bitter.” |

"Knowledge is knowing a courgette is a fruit not a vegetable.
Wisdom is knowing not to put courgette in a fruit salad.
I've put courgettes in a cake - what does that make me?
Lucky! "
We've still got courgettes emerging from the allotment. They're never ending.
Anyway, back to wisdom... |

I had to look after the allotment over the summer and one day they would be an inch long and the next they'd be a foot long! They are taking over. |

I asked my mum for wisdom as a kid. It was on my Christmas list. First year I got a boxset, the second year I got a cricketing almanac. The 3rd year I asked for lego and got what I wanted.
I may have gained wisdom in this story of dubious veracity. ![](/icons/s/2/cute.gif) |

"Being clever mean you know a tomato is a fruit,
Being wise is knowing it has no place in a fruit salad. "
Is this bit of wisdom different to the courgettes? I've never made a cake with tomatoes.

How would you feel about blowing out the candles on a birthday flan?

If you can do a Rubik cube in under 5 minutes your clever.
If you realise the pointlessness of wasting 5 minutes fiddling with bits of plastic your wise. |

Being wise is reading the previous posts. "
That would hit the knowledge bit mentioned by others.

Intelligence is knowing enough information to completely humiliate your opponent in an argument.
Wisdom is knowing that maybe you'd rather just stay friends instead ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |
