"I don't think Ive seen one person wearing a poppy correctly today. Everybody seems to wear them with the leaf pointing downward.
Has anyone else noticed this?"

I agree. I dont know anyone in the forces/ex-forces that would give a damn where the leaf was, just pleased that people have made an effort to wear one. |

To be fair, the British Legion say "There is no right or wrong way to wear a poppy. It is a matter of personal choice whether an individual chooses to wear a poppy and also how they choose to wear it. The best way to wear a poppy is to wear it with pride."

I do not wear the traditional poppy anymore as they keep falling off.
I purchase pin badges from the British Legion or Poppy Scotland and also make donations (poppy ) |

I didn't know about the way the leaf was supposed to go until I read it on here last week. Maybe nobody does it correctly because they don't know? And I agree with the posters above, at least they're wearing one, the sentiment is the same! |

"One of our cats ate mine
Did it eat it with the leaf the right way round?"
I tore the leaf off first. The stem is floating about the flat somewhere,he chases it around the floor. The petals are toast. I'll get another and hide it |

A Poem For The Poppy Abusers
This Land Was Build From Blood A Tears,
The Sacrafice Of 2000 Years.
The Romans Came, The Vikings Too,
So Why Would We Be Afraid Of You?
But Mark My Words, And Mark Them Well,
It Was 1066 Since We Last Fell.
When It Comes To A Fight, We Hate To Lose,
So Respect Our Dead,
Or Leave,
You Choose!!!. |

I'm hoping it hurts when it comes back out. With regards to the poem and the line about leaving,is it off a Britain First website by any chance? |

As you can see I bought a pin badge and the leaf is at 11 o'clock but as others have said, does it really matter? To be honest when I wore a paper one the leaf would quite often drop down 6 o'clock anyway |

"Yes, not many know,or care, that the leaf is supposed to be at eleven'o clock.
I didn't know until I read this. What does that make me?"
Just like everyone else that wears a poppy with the leaf at any angle. Proud supporter of our troops past, present and future. |

"They are wearing a poppy
Thats all that should matter
There are far too many people on this earth that pick the minor details to pieces........why? "
I'm not really sure the families of those remembered would care how the poppies were worn more the fact that people are wearing them as a mark of respect. |

I didn't know this until I read the thread in the other forum.
It makes little difference to me, I will wear it in memory of the fallen and the people living with the terrors of war.

I used my (relatively) new crochet skills to make mine this year. I did remember to stop and put some money in the tin when I went past a poppy seller.
I also made a white one and wear the two together. And yes, I stopped in and made a donation for that one too.
I honour all those who have put themselves on the line for our way of life and freedoms. Including my freedom to want to live in a world without conflict. |

My granddad, late dad and my late father in law, would not give a tinker's cuss about which way the leaf was. As long as we remember their comrades who died (and those who have died since) so we could have this pointless conversation. Age shall not weary them .......

Aside from the merits of presenting a poppy in its correct format I imagine the sincerity of the gesture is far more important.
Far too many assume by posting a Facebook picture or wearing a poppy that they've done their bit.
Reflection, devotion and acts are carried out by many not just those overtly displaying a poppy.
Besides I imagine even a few on parade will have had their poppy leaf slip down out of its correct position. ...not important in this context. |

I am ex royal navy and have been a beneficiary if help from the British Legion.
If you choose to wear a poppy that is up to you. The same as if you choose not to. I personally do not mind either way.
What is important to me is that irremember the friends i have lost.
The Friends that have been damaged either mentally or physically.
The wars and losses are a terrible thing how ever you look at it. History forgotten is tomorrow's future to be repeated again.
1969 is the only year a serving member of the forces has not been lost.
We have freedoms and choices to make as we see fit.
For your tomorrow we gave our today |

There is no right or wrong way to wear it (or not to wear it). This nonsense about the 11 o'clock position for the leaf is recently made up twaddle.
The leaf is botanically incorrect anyway, so I rip mine off |
