Gym time - Leg day...nooo
Jump to: Newest in thread
Today is a rest day for me. Mainly because my gym doesn't open until 10 and I intend to be in bed by then (night shifts this week).
Tomorrow is leg day!! Yay!! Although straight after my 5th night shift is probably pushing it a bit. |

Wanted to go to a circuit class but that starts too late for me...so I'll have to figure out how these machines work and try not to treat the place like a playground!!

The other day a woman in gym on xtrainer having a conversation on speaker phone for a good twenty minutes in flipping Chinese.
I asked the gym instructor to ask her to turn it off, he just looked blank and said it's not upto him he would have to speak to the manager first.
Sorry Enjoy leg day rant over |

Well all you peeps going means I should too. Been at work since 6 and cycled here so half my cardio for today is done. Interesting cycle in too as legs are still feeling it from my Friday leg session. Think I'll superset chest and biceps today for half hour or so.
Enjoy your workout all |

"#jellylegs"
Orgasm jelly legs are the best though
I mixed it up a bit today. Lighter weight, higher reps and faster controlled movement. Abs, chest and biceps. Then the cycle home on which I felt a little sick but think I might have had my bag strapped up a little too tight, ooops.
Kick back and relax time now |

That is impressive. How tall is he out of interest? I need to up my game, I have 11kg on him and I top out at 100kg on bench and half of that on squats. 36" inside leg does not help me when it comes to squats. Congrats to him, I'm sure you're very proud of him and every right to be chuffed. Hope he lets you attend the next comp. |

As an ex powerlifter I used to train legs pretty hard and never overly enjoyed it but broke my leg and ruptured my knee last year and just had 3rd and final op on it 5 weeks ago. I haven't been able to train legs hard for 16 months now and really miss it |

He's around 5'8" tall. I'm surprised he didn't enter the deadlift because he regularly hits 180kg in training, but he said he would have needed 200kg to win today |

It wasn't a "full power" event, it was just assessed on single disciplines.
His "full power" debut is in 6 weeks time.
He can afford to put on a couple of kgs and still remain in same weight class |

Should've done it for the experience. I could always pull at least 10kg more in a comp than in the gym, he might have surprised himself. Best of luck to him for his next comp. |

I'm a spinning veteran. That first time is not the most fun, will recommend either padded shorts or a gel seat for your first couple of times till your ass gets used to it.
I now do 2 double classes (1hr 45) a week as well as a full weights program. |

As I'm just starting the gym I don't really know my way around a gym... So plan to take three classes a week...... Tabata, spin and possibly circuit
How did you come up with the program?
I don't have any padded shorts |

Squats, lunges?
Both of those with a barbell. I have 15kg on my barbell for squats and 10 for lunges coz I'm a bit wobbly for lunges, dead lifts. X"
Am working my way up with the weights though that's not very heavy. |

I put jools thru it lastnight. While I did 40mins on treadmill. Gave her some great weights exercises to do
But inbetween each exercise she had to plank for one minute. So she ended up doing six mins of planks also hanging leg raises, seated holds and dead bug. #rock hard abs |

Legs is Friday for me now, can't deal with doms in work! Had a bit of an embarrassing moment with hack squats last Friday, thought I'd have a go at 70kg, squatted down and after 3 reps on the 4th I couldn't bring it back up, it stopped on the safety catch and I sort of had to roll out the side! |

Good choice, I always do legs on fridays, for that very reason heh.
I remember my most embarrassing moment.
Like you it was squatting, I had never used a smith machine before, so I didn't realise without having to use your stabilisers you can lift soooo much more. I stacked it on, then my hamstring gave way heh.

Do proper squats, the smith machine is easy!! By the way, most smith machine bars are around 10kg more than a standard olympic bar so around 30kg. 4 plates a side is 190kg |

I do the machine for safety mostly you know, for the knees. |

Its good for safety as in if you haven't a spotter but would still recommend one however, I would say its harder on your knees than regular squats as you are forced to squat in a fixed plane which puts more pressure on your knees. If you watch a good squatter from the side, the bar doesn't take the up and down plane a machine forces you to do. Squats done correctly only strengthen your knees but the way some people lift, I'm not surprised they have knee problems! |

That's right as your forced in a position than free squats, yes seen few tekniques to how some lift and doesn't look good. I will keep an eye out to see how the good squatters do, few on utube as well |

The other thing you often see in the gym is people loading on the weights on the machines and moving them all of a foot in each direction and not getting the full range of motion.
Had a young lad in the leg press with about 200kg on each side and he moved it about 6inchs up down and up and then tried to leave the weights on the machine as he walked away. Bloody cheek |

I think that people assume that everyone who lifts weight will end up looking like arnie though.. I can feel the muscles just need to lose more weight for it to show properly, I'm 19lbs down so far. I usually lose weight quicker than this but I've never done weights like this before only hours of tedious cardio.
I wish I had a way of knowing what my body fat/muscle percentage was at the beginning of September compared to now!! |

It is genetically impossible for a woman to get huge and ripped body builder style naturally.
Yes they can get muscular and strong, toned and in great shape but their hormones prevent them from getting massive.
It's hard enough for men to get naturally muscular.
Unless you are on roids then don't have to worry about getting huge
Unless you have a pair of nadgers hidden away somewhere |

"Do you do your weights before cardio?"
I normally do a 5 min run to get my heart rate up, then weights, then another 5 min blast then more weights, although for some reason today I decided to see how fast I could cover 20km on the bike. So I stuck some dance tunes on and away I went. Lol x |

Hottie you should try interval training on the bike its a killer but worth it. You cycle for 10 sec fast the 10 normal 20 fast then 20 normal and repeat this all they way up to a min and then back again down to 10. |
