Poor snake.................how'd they sell that one to TV execs?...............'hey boss, I've got a great idea for telly......let me get eaten by a magnificent creature then kill it to save me'
All sounds a bit wrong and I feel sorry for the poor animal, to lose its life in pursuit of entertainment. |

"Anacondas are nasty brutes. That why they don't get kept as pets
Absolutely crazy"
nasty brutes? its an animal...nothing nasty about it.
what is nasty is the human concept of using animals for entertainment to this degree especially.
choose a man over a large reptile?
or choose a large reptile over a stupid man...
I know who my sympathy will be for if either dies. |

I was also under the impression that a snake couldn't eat grown man because of the width of the shoulders.
What the fuck possesss people to do this? He's meant to be a reptile lover so he should know exactly how much effort and energy it takes a massive heavy snake like an anaconda to constrict/eat it's prey. It's just cruel. |

Pythons and boas are kept as pets because they can be kept in domestic situations whereas anacondas can't. They are much more aggressive than other snakes and I really wouldn't want to be anywhere near one. Controlled situation or not. |

If he gets eaten he will not survive. Anacondas are constrictors. Usually they will wrap themselves around their prey and tighten their coils every time their prey exhales. |

Not trying to be a smart ass or anything but as a reptile owner i can categorically confirm that anacondas are kept in captivity. Whilst im at it, they aren't particularly aggressive either - their size rules out aggression as they are just too big to expend lots of energy chasing things around.
In regards to the original thread - i cant see this actually taking place, as someone else alluded too, the shoulder width of humans mean we are almost impossible to swallow, even for a 20ft plus snake |

"Wasn't there one that swallowed a cow?
Im sure I saw pics
I watched the vid of a snake regurgitating (sp?) One "
Thats the one,it was gruesome
A cow has got to be wider than a human? |

Its not just about width - more bone structure. Human shoulders/bones are very dense and thus hard to be crushed. Cattle have different physiology and can therefore be crushed |

It's the different width between head and shoulders. It's difficult for a snake to stretch its mouth from the head over the shoulders. Although a cow is bigger. The change in size is gradual making it much easier for the snake to get its jaws around the body |
