fat or not??

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

I am 5' and 10st9lbs. I excerise daily and eat extremely healthy. 3 stone was gained due to medication.

I consider myself as extremely big, but some don't. When describing myself on here I never know whether to tick average or curvy. (I totally avoid athletic or slim even though I do triathlons and other similar events).

What are people thought fat or not?

I'm fat. I use the large category because that's what seems most accurate to me.

I don't need BMI or sizes or calculations to know I'm fat. A mirror is adequate.

Whether other people are fat isn't something I consider. I either like them or I don't.

I totally hate the word "fat" so much so that it is classed as a swear word in my house. You should tock which ever box you see yourself as but personally I think you look and sound curvy

Post a body shot.

Let others decide.

One persons curvy is another's fat is another's chubby is another's large is another's ample.

It depends on each individuals perception, but from what you've said your height and weight are I'd guess you're curvy

Many times when I put curvy people say that size 10-12 is not curvy, but having huge breasts and bum and a small waist I'd say that is curvy

It depends.

If you have a muscular athletic body then I don't think that's the same as a large flabby body if you know what I mean.

Both infer a heavier weight but in very different ways.

Why do we have this obsession with putting people in boxes? If people are going to make a decision on whether they are interested based on a tick in a box then more fool them.

For what it's worth you sound curvy to me

I think there is too much shame attached to women having athletic bodies.

Jessica Ennis and Serena Williams have spoken about it.

Be proud of your muscles, it sounds like you put a lot of work into them.

There needs to be a sturdy or robust option lol, I'm 5ft 8 and a size 18. I'm a 15 stone ex powerlifting champ who is pretty much always in the gym or swimming. Whilst I'm in no way slim, I'm often bemused by some threads asking what size should a BBW start at etc. What some people class as fat, others would deem curvy. Someone who is a size 18 and 5ft tall will look a lot different to the same dress size at 5ft 10. Trying to define something in a tick box will never work as we all _iew things differently. If you have a full body pic up and then people can see for themselves.

Fab forces us to select a body type, but as it's not possible to search using body type as a filter it really doesn't make any difference what one chooses.

On the other hand, at least one clear body pic on a profile makes all the difference.

I'd just go with whatever you're comfortable with, and let people make their own mind up based on photos. There's no weight or size basis you can use to band people, because we're all so different.

I'm wearing size 18 at the moment, but I'm 5'10 so look completely different to someone who's 5'0 and the same dress size.

Class myself as curvy / a bit fat but not really BBW. I don't have a problem classing myself as fat but that's not one of the options available!

I'm ok with fat. I am fat so it describes me. Obese upsets me tho and tbh it probably describes me better.

I think it depends on each imdividual and how u feel aboit yoir body and what you feel is right for you . on here I get messages implying I am a bbw . which to some who look at my pics I am . but I used to weigh 22 stone at that time I was a bbw so now I lool at myself and think I am not what I was so dont think bbw anymore . but people who have never seen me that big or been that big themselves would say I am bbw .

its really all down to how you feel . I have enough pics on my profile for people to lool and if they dont like pass me by xxx tabitha xx

I lost 4lbs this week and before that i was in the obese catagory hence the thread. Its quite upsetting as although I wish I was 7 and a half stone again, I don't consider myself obese and those that meet me don't either. Oh ffs I should just relax and forget the charts and peoples opinions!!! Easier said than done tho lol

I don't like the word fat, feel it indicates lazy and poor personal hygiene and self respect. We can't all be slim and I do think sometimes it's genetic, think the term bbw or curvaceous is much more appropriate.

If you exercise eat healthy and carry a few extra pounds or pile on the weight due to medication then please don't call yourself fat or allow anyone else to do that to you.

If you're referring to BMI as putting you in the obese category then ignore it, mine is 30.5 which makes me obese also but I'm clearly not. Most front row rugby players are obese too according to it as it doesn't take into account muscle mass which is heavier than fat. Its all about how you feel, not what box someone may or may not put you in. You'll be some people's type and not others. It would be terribly boring if we were all the same!

If the choice is between average and curvy go for curvy, 'cos who the hell wants to be average!! I chose curvy, but I just put up a full length pic or two so people can decide for themselves before they approach me, best way IMO.

It is an awkward one as I'm 6'3", 50inch chest, 38 inch waist so in proportion for size and weight but put myself as ample.

Fat as a word has so many negative conurtations.

It shouldn't have.

The less scared we become of it, the less of a damaging effect it has.

It doesn't bother me when others used the word to describe me, cos I use it myself.

Why do people call themselves fat? You may have some fat....Like you have some eyelashes and some hair... But you don't call yourself hair.

Having said that... I'm fat :/

I consider myself as extremely big, but some don't. When describing myself on here I never know whether to tick average or curvy. (I totally avoid athletic or slim even though I do triathlons and other similar events).

What are people thought fat or not?"

how can they give their opinion whether you should class yourself fat or not....

they can't see you.

I wouldn't say the op should use 'fat*, partly as it's become a word of insult and I'm not seeing it as describing you. I'd stick to a short narrative and let people see your pics and know their level of interest.

Beauty is subjective so they can find yours and be in touch.

It's been said several times.

But I'm guessing the OP has decided against fat and gone for slim.

And grown taller.

She could have spent the last few days on a rack, (the stretching type, you pervs!). That would do it.

I might try it myself.

Mind you, to reach slim I'd end up around 10ft tall

I'm a size 18-20 and know I'm fat and I have written that I'm classed as a bbw on my profile I've had messages asking why I've described myself as curvy and not large but I dont consider myself to be large In comparison to some of the other lovely larger ladies on here. Only you can decide

Hi,

You wanted comments from women so see if this is any help...

I would agree with what others have said and just go with what you feel fits best, and put a good recent full length photo on your profile.

Based on what you have said, I personally would go with curvy, simply because none of the others really fit.

It sounds like you have a smaller bustier version of my body shape

I'm 5'6" 34F bust, with a smallish waist and largeish hips. I weigh around 12st 7lb but am pretty fit and have large muscular legs. I'm normally a size 14.

Hope we didn't discourage her, though all the comments I saw were positive.

To anyone else - let others decide if they like you and don't focus too much on labels.

I think she had a few issues reading her threads over the last few days, probably not the best place to be if that was the case. Hope she's ok.

some people like the "larger lady"

how large does one have to be, to be considered fat?

There are lots of adverts on television at the moment about saying more of the population are becoming obese but with all these tempting meals & drink is it any wonder people give in?

Fat is a tissue under the skin I prefer the term plump, overweight or obese. To find out which you are its down to bmi.

bmi is misleading doesnt take into account muscle ect persuming all weight is fat.

I look at my dress size personally

According to BMI, I am either very overweight or obese (varies depending on slight fluctuations with training)... but then as my doc has told me, my activity levels are too high for the BMI measurement as it only works if you do under 4 hours exercise a week, so its not down to BMI - its down to a common sense approach.

As long as you use it as a guide, its all fine. When I started losing weight - my BMI was estimated at about 70... it doesn't actually go up that high (5ft 3 and nearly 30 stone) but because my average week includes about 8-10 hours in the gym now (more if I am coaching) BMI doesn't work as I don't think I'm obese

I am pretty much an identical height and weight.put curvy as most of my weight is on my stomach but I too consider myself big, though I was significantly larger and heavier years ago while in an abusive relationship. For that reason I now worry when my weight heads up as I associate being very large with when I was very unhappy. I don't worry about my weight as it is right now, as I am finally learning to embrace how I am, but I wouldn't want to be any larger than I am now.

I finding people's idea of sizes varies wildly on here; so I try to just be upfront with what bits I don't feel so good about!
