Yes! My older brother had their early albums. Much under -appreciated band IMO

"can I tell you a funny story about the human league in this thread please

a few years ago I (ryan) had the joinery package to turn the old roxy nightclub in Sheffield into the carling academy, it was a great job and it went well.

towards the end of the contract the names of the first acts that were due to perform went on general release and the ticket office was open for advanced booking before the building work was complete, the human league were one of these acts!

we were always on site well before the ticket office opened and one morning we found an envelope in the gates, it was addressed in biro to the human league so it got dropped on the counter and left, a few hours later the evelope had been opened and screwed up by the box office staff so one of our gang opened it up and brought it to us, it was a fan letter from a man that worked nearby, explaining his interest in meeting the band and confessing his love and admiration to them, it also had a self addressed envelope in it!

we got a flier from the box office and wrote a letter on it to the fan, telling him that we were the human league and that if he came to the academy dressed in his best hl t shirt he could have a meet and greet and free tickets!

he turned up on the date we had told him and didn't see the funny side, but plenty of others did, apart from the box office staff

The guitarist from the human league runs a pub near me. He plays his new band Junkyard Dog there and does open mic sessions. Rarely let's better bands than his play on normal band nights though (and there are plenty better).
