Did you know that cliché is a french word that originated from the print industry? typesetters had all the trite phrases made up to save them setting them again and again. The word cliché was the sound that the printing press made when mass producing the final product. |

Not only does everyone get the quote wrong but it wasn't Voltaire who said it, as a quick Google will tell most people.
Also, most Wilde and Churchill quotes are incredibly overused and misapplied. |

Although the repeat quoting of the Groucho Marx quote the the OP refers to just suggests that people trying to be witty but haven't actually read the whole thread so don't realise that it is going to fall a bit flat. |
