Kent

My friend ordered a pepper grinder from tesco as she was given a huge bag of black peppercorns.

Her shopping arrived this morning. They are out of grinders so replaced it with a nice bag of peppercorns.

I can't stop laughing but it does make you wonder how the logic came about to replace a grinder for peppercorns with more peppercorns that need grinding!!!

Anyone got any amusing supermarket replacement stories.

I have ordered a prosecco in the past and been delivered a bottle of Lambrini.........ffs! It's the pickers choice presumably and if its a 17year old yoof who has never shopped in his life I'm not surprised. She was lucky not to get a nice shiny red pepper!

Somewhere in North Norfolk

I've had some mad replacements.

I once ordered some sugar free cloudy lemonade. They were out so sent the non-diet cloudy lemonade instead.

Almost any sugar free soft drink would have been fine but one with sugar was no use at all to me.

cat food is better for dogs than dog food as it has higher meat content

"Ordered dog food and got cat food ffs didn't have a cat at the time"

A lot of dogs would prefer cat food, apparently there is more better quality meat in it. Just a thought

I strongly suspect when this happens someone has made the decision not to substitute the very very cheap ordered item with the very very expensive similar item even though many are available?

What I hate is when the quantity I have ordered isn't available, say six chicken thighs and they substitute the corn fed, extra special, blah blah chicken thighs, but only two of them and still 20p more than the six you ordered! They are hoping you are so impressed by not being charged that 20p you won't notice its not enough to feed your children ffs

My cat, well, one of my cats, thinks he should be fed tinned tuna in spring water.

And chocolate. Cats eat chocolate according to him. (Yes, I know it's toxic to cats and no, he doesn't get it).

Yes, when a bit of thought would suggest that a pack of ten drumsticks or a bag of frozen thighs would make more sense.

My lad has the little fruit pouches in his lunchbox for nursery. Ordered some that were 2 boxes for £3. Out of stock. So they bought me yoghurts. If I had wanted yoghurts I would of ordered them! I know there's no way they had sold out of the other half dozen or more varieties of the fruit pouches but they are more expensive and the other side of the shop!!

I ordered meat free burgers once and got substituted with birds eye frozen beef burgers. Can only assume the guy had deduced from the rest of my order that I wasn't really a vegetarian.

This is exactly why i wont do online shopping anymore. Beggers belief when you order from the vegetarian section, ie veggie sausages and they send meat sausages

Asda are the worst for this. I order shopping for my grandad on a weekly basis and some of the things he gets sent are stupid. Order chicken hotpot get a beef curry.... Yeah logical. Also once ordered bread and they didn't even substitute it that was one I had to laugh at. The thing I find most annoying and ridiculous is when they send a substitute with less in i.e nappies order a box of 69 they send two packets containing only 52 yet charge the price of 69 nope if you're substitute always send more and I argued my case with them that 3 packets of 26 should have been sent out and got an apology but at the end of the day when it comes to certain things, sorry isn't good enough x

I asked for foil because I was doing a roast and they sent me cling film!

its shocking the lack of intelligence some of these pickers have. I always go threw and unclick the substitute box when I order

Surely the substitution there should have been a lottery ticket.
