What worked for my mum was being brought up in a time where it was unacceptable to not be married.

"keep my stomach full and my ball's empty"

no, that's the way to keeping one half happy.

There isn't actually a secret its just that some people think there is and go off looking for it...when quite often its in front of them all the time.

Honesty, trust & the ability to talk to each other about anything no matter what the topic is.

Never go to bed on an argument & always let the other half know you love them.

Might sound soppy but it has worked for us over the years.

For hubby and i, i think that it helps that we met while swinging so obviously have that as a joint interest.

We also have a joint love of other things such as family, football, speedway, live music, films, books and a general happy way of living.

We talk and share things and we love each other very much, we care about each other and help each other lots in every way.

He is very tolerant of my moods to which helps lol

We aren't married and have no intention of doing so, but have been together over 20 years now and still going strong....

Don't have a secret and couldn't really tell you why or how we work, we just do.

My hubby and I shouldnt work but it does.

We have very little in common and as much as we love eachother there are times we dont 'like' one another.

But after 7years we still wouldnt be without eachother and still madly in love.

Don't have kids, then you'll still have all the time for your partner. Of the 15 or so weddings we've been to, all the ones who had kids have split up - all those without kids are still together.

I found that an easily deconstructed patio worked well.
