It is horrible, you jugu feel so guilty about been off, and when you ring elem though it's genuine the questions they ask make you feel guilty, I've only ever phoned in sick once and that was because I'd broke my arm and was in plaster, and still felt like I was lying when I rung up lol |

"In our work place you go in sick, as there is no sick pay. Sometimes it is like a doctor's waiting room with all the coughs and sneezing."
ive never rang in sick im not sure if i do get paid or not but i do know we dont get our monthly bonus if we go sick..
im not fussed though..
i have been in bed for nearly 3 hours and still cant sleep.. |

well when you ring up work tell them you have also booked an emergency doctor appointment... you don't have to as most places you can self-cert for up to 7 days, but if it makes you feel better then do that...
i have a horrid cold at the moment, that is triggering off sinusitus and anytime i sneeze it is trigering off nose bleeds
sometimes you have to listen to what your body is telling you..... if it is time to shut it down and rest... thats what you have to do...
the only person who wears an "s" on their chest is superman... the rest of us can't do everything all the time... |

"I prefer people to phone in ill when they are genuinely ill. I really don't want sickness brought in to the workplace. One person off is better than six.
"
Yes. I worked with a woman who would drag herself in and wait to be told to go home. The result was that instead of one person being off sick several people were. She said she felt guilty about letting people down but she obviously didn't feel guilty about giving us all whatever illness she had.
Stay at home, get yourself well and feel glad that you spared your colleagues. |

I got sent home from work on thursday as i was poorly and had been taken into hospital at 3am and basically got home at 7, showered and changed then went to work and they could see how bad i was, i rang in on friday and I felt awful doing so as its a new job but i was too sick and would not have been any use there!

If i am ill i stay home ... simple as that ! I wont get better quickly if i drag myself into work plus i will pass it on to other staff and clients which is selfish and pointless and can be dangerous in some cases. So i stay home, rest and use appropriate medication, if needed, to help me get better. Then i go back to work |

"Night nurse and vodka. It doesn't cure you but you don't really care."
Blimey that would knock you out for six.
OP - hope you feel better soon. If you're not well enough to go in and you work with food , best not to go in. I work with some people who sneeze once and are off sick, you are genuinely poorly. I have the cold lurgy too - seems to be doing the rounds. Hope you get your ear sorted as there's nothing worse than ear ache. |

Night nurse on its own is quite enough for me.I have such bizarre dreams after taking it, I wake up laughing and completely well!! |

So i rang up sick, got questioned to how my illness will stop me from working.
went to the drs who confirmed a burst ear drum, with inner infection.
also swelling in my throat and nodules on my tonsils.
by 9:30am i was back in bed with a cocktail of tablets and slept right through till 5pm. i managed a fishcake for dinner then back to bedtill 8 this morning.
am feeling a bit better and hoping by the end of the week im back to usual happy self |
