Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

There have been a few references to this on here over the last few days, so let's have your favourite bits, or even favourite versions (radio, book, record, TV, film, computer game)

I remember liking the idea of a statue of Arthur Dent wilfully calling into existence a bowl of petunias.

The whole whale thing...

The legend that is Zaphod Beeblebrox

The effect of the Pangalactic Gargle Blaster.

"What's wrong with being d*unk? Yougo and ask a glass of water"

Middlesbrough

In the first novel and radio series, a group of hyper-intelligent pan-dimensional beings demand to learn the Ultimate Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, The Universe, and Everything from the supercomputer, Deep Thought, specially built for this purpose. It takes Deep Thought 7½ million years to compute and check the answer, which turns out to be 42. Unfortunately, The Ultimate Question itself is unknown.

Three of my favourites

Marvin the Paranoid Android

Slarty bartfast

They made Ford black in the movie. I mean seriously, what kind of fucked up world do we live in where they have to be so politically correct to have a racial minority in a bloody movie just to appease people.

And don't even get me started on Zaphods dumb as shit "two heads" version.

And that stupid vacant cow as Trillian.

And marvin the bloody balloon. WTF.

Bloody movie.

Grumble grumble.

That said, Arthur was great.

I quite liked the film. The colour of Ford's skin was irrelevant to me.

Vogon poetry.

"Oh freddled gruntbuggly, your micturitions are to me as plurdled gabbleblotchits on a lurgid bee............."

At the age of 14 I learnt this off by heart and quoted it to anyone who would care to listen (which was hardly anyone!)

And I wondered why I couldn't get a girlfriend.......

Well, I got my towel on standby, and I still get confused about the ravenous bug-blatter beast of... erm... was it Trall 5?... You know, the one that, if you want to avoid it attacking you, you hide your eyes, and it somehow believes that if you cant see it, it cant see you????.... my head hurts!!
