I think you should be allowed 2 statuses.

Thank you people xxx Sorry to be self indulgent but the poor lad is sat at my feet, he knows today is the day... I know compared to the loss and personal battles that many have faced on here, it won't compare, but to me, he is a buddy I'll never replaced.

He never complained about me being home too late, too hungover, dissapearing off for "work", geniunely working late. He would just give my chops a lick and wag his tail.
