When I lived in Scunthorpe, local families on my street celebrating Diwali used to cook lots of food and offer an open house for the night.

My first real taste of authentic Indian food. Tasted completely different to the stuff I had from the takeaway.

One of the few things I miss.

My neighbours before the ones I have now would put candles outside their house along the walls and bring us in food. They came into us on bonfire night
