We send up fireworks and set fires to remember remember, the 5th of November. But how did a terrorist plot become Bonfire Night?
Will we be "celebrating" September 11th or 7th July in 400 years time?

I had a similar conversation a few weeks ago.
Isn't Guy Fawkes (and the burning of) more of a warning than a celebration?
Seems bizarre to indoctrinate such an occasion into our culture. |

can see why at the time the establishment would want the catholics reminded of what may happen to any more 'plotters' but I suppose like many 'traditions' today the actual reasons for are lost in the commercialising of tat to sell.. |
