Just going through the people you may know bit on Facebook and someone from here is on it! We don't live near each other and have no friends in common.

How the hell does that work?

That means they've been checking your profile out regularly I think

Titz Towers, North Notts

It may be fate saying you need to meet them

Or it could just mean you get chance to stalk them and see what they did over the weekend

If you're accessing FB from you're mobile and have Fab friends in your mobile it'll pick it up. It's madness now how invasive certain apps are into all areas of your phone.

Have you stopped your profile being viewable web wide as opposed to viewable only to Fabmembers??

I know!! I'm not that bothered about it but I've lots of friends far and wide and it's a quick way to keep in touch/share pics etc as a group rather than individually which id never get round to doing

If you've their number stored on your phone, and use the app, it'll access your address book and find any matches to suggest "people you may know". Maybe that's why?

Also, maybe check if you've your mobile number on your own profile to avoid being searchable.

Could be that. Like someone else said, apps have all kinds of crazy permissions to get access to your phone, photo's on your phone, numbers, contacts, browser history.

North of The Wall - youll need your vest

I posted on this a few days ago so forgive me but...

I once I sent one email from my 'perv' address to the 'perv' address to someone on here.

Years later when I signed up for FB using my real email address his real profile popped up on the 'People you may know' bit, complete with pics of his wife and kids, where he works, where he went to school....

No idea how it happened as Im sure he didnt register for FB with his 'BillyBigBoy' email address.

I hate the way everything links up

I really don't understand it at all. It freaked Mrs P out a bit. She shut down her facebook because of it.

As someone said - all the apps go for your contact list. First port of call.

Then they do matching-so populating their app with all your contacts.

On this subject, anyone noticed the change in the size of the what's app download? On my old phone it was 2 or 3 mob. Looked to download it for a new phone the other day + it's like 30+mb!

as long as the mobile number and email address aren't public on the Facebook account, it can be avoided.

Anyone remotely valuing/wanting to protect their privacy should do this

I haven't used the FB app for over a year because it's dodgy.

Haven't had any odd 'people suggestions' since.

Facebook takes people that have searched for your name and put them as people you may know, if you search for someone with a specific name it will bring the one up as top result that has been looking at your profile.

Also if you go to the block page you can put people's name in the block people option , and if they have already blocked you they are top contender.

This is the only way you can see people who have full search restrictions in place

Are you sure he could have been told it reverse image search you , looked on dating sites

or just asked someone who knows you or has met you

It's highly unlikely that it was random bearing in mind Facebook is designed for networking .
