I'm a professional photographer, at the moment working on my own project to show that people over 40 can be sexy and erotic.
My question is what do you believe makes somebody erotic or beautiful.
I believe in photographing normal people not size 0 |

Confidence in a shot I find quite sexy...
You want to look at a shot and feel as horny as they look as though they feel |

I've been lucky to meet lots that have let me photograph and take part in photos, many of varying ages/weights.Some will highlight things they dont like, or when I'm editing I'll do some standard adjustments..its not too change them dramatically though...
I'd say I have a good eye for making friends and acquaintances look good..sometimes I even amaze myself at me in my pics lol

It needs a dedicated project to prove that people over 40 can be sexy?

Beauty is the loving and acceptance of ones self regardless of their shape, size, age, gender and colour, and confident and proud to let others know that.
Eroticism is the embracing of ones sexuality, regardless of their beauty (as defined above), and sexual satisfaction is derived from whatever it is that we find sensually stimulating, which can and will differ with each person. |

Not for me but maybe for others. |

I watched the programme on Gypsy Rose Lee the other evening. She didn't even take any clothes off for the first 15 mins of her show. Yet the audience were entranced apparently. Some people just exude eroticism. It doesn't have to be in your face. It's implied, so partially clothed to leave the rest to your imagination. |

I understand what you're saying but beauty and eroticism is ageless (in adults of course) and comes from self acceptance.
Look at the pictures of the women and men who have posted here who are all beautiful, erotic creatures. |

I think beauty is a property associated with a person or image. Different people gauge beauty differently.
Eroticism is more about the actions of a person or in the production of an image. A person who is beautiful can pose in images that are frankly gynaecological rather than erotic, and a person that I may not consider beautiful can be in a very erotic image or act in an erotic manner.
Also beauty is not necessarily directly a feature of sexuality, whereas eroticism very definitely is! |

That's a good answer. |

It does need a project when in the eyes of the erotic photography world you have to be slim and in your late teens to 20s. Thats why the project shots will be exhibited and entered in 2 major competitions in 2015. Take a look at the majority of erotic 'art' photographers sites, you will find young ladies with perfect figures |

I'm over forty, size 20 and sexy to some.
When I feel sexy then apparently I appear sexy. Same person and same wrapping, it's the attitude and positivity that helps.
Obviously not to everyone, that's just being honest |

"Are you saying that people over forty are NOT sexy? That people under 40 usually are?
I think he is saying that the perception is that they aren't. I think this might be his perception though."
It isn't my perception at all, it seems to be the perception of most erotic photographers, my perception is anybody can be sexy and erotic whatever age they are |

possibly most erotic photographers are catering to a perceived market? Young, nubile etc? |

A strange question for a professional photographer to be asking, I assumed they would know otherwise they wouldn't get any business? |

Someone can be erotic without being beautiful in my view. Erotic = arousing, a turn on. Beauty = visually appealing. Both will be different for everyone I would guess. |

I was asking to see if my perception matched other peoples, nothing strange in that |

Judging by the photo's you have on your profile I would concentrate on composition and balance first. |
