Are there any words you find hard to pronounce.
I was trying to say Brewery earlier and just couldn't say it, so the person I was talking to could understand! The more I tried, the less like Brewery it sounded.
I know someone who says uncle - like oncle. Always sounds wrong, but that's just how she says it.
Any words that flummox you?

I want to know how you say brewery now.
I can't think of any at the moment but I know that sometimes my emphasis on some parts of a word is different to some people around me. (I can't think of an example right now.) |

I don't think my accent helped! I think I've got a complex now about that word!
I used to emphasise advertisement wrongly so I'd say the ise part so it sounded like eyes rather than is. If that makes sense. |

My mother will put the emphasis on the wrong part of people's names (even completely common names, even when the person has introduced themselves to her, even when other people refer to them regularly) and it drives me insane.
As for me, I still say remuneration wrong because I also spelled it wrong until about 5 years ago and the incorrect version stuck (renumeration). Unfortunately it's a word I come across a lot at work! |

Not a word I can't pronounce but a little joke between us is the word Lingerie which we have always said as it is spelt rather than the French pronunciation, that is until we were shopping and I asked where the ling-er-ie section was to a shop assistant. She just looked at me and then very slowly said the correct pronunciation, whilst pointing it out and I left rather red faced |

If you struggle with the word barracuda then say after me:
"Barra" - "barra"
"Cu" - "cu"
"Da" - "da"
Now put it all together and what have you got?
"Barra barra cu cu da da". |

But it's not about numbers as such. It's about the counting of money - muneration.

Specifically - always comes out as pacifically. & regularly. Doesn't matter how many times I try. I just can't say them properly.

I always struggle with "specifically"
I'm quite capable of messing up the word "statistics" too - which wasn't ideal when I worked for an organisation with that in the title
I can pronounce it, but I have an irrational hatred for the word "meld" - gives me the creeps |

I used to work with a woman who couldn't pronounce ciabatta - she actually spelt it out to say it 'see-a-batter' sooooo cute
On a different note a neighbour of ours had a daughter they called Cyan it was only years later I realised her name was Sian but they didn't know how to say it |

I used to not be able to pronounce shoulder and instead said soldier. I can now say both correctly but an annoying side effect is that I can't type either correctly, i.e. when I typed shoulder above I meant to type soldier. Oh FFS, I just did it again! I meant to type shoulder but ended up typing soldier... AH FUCK IT DONE IT AGAIN!!! |
