exactly my point I love a good ol love story or a tearjerker"
The only tearjerker I can watch is Armageddon, lump in my throat everytime Bruce stays behind to do his stuff haha |

I don't. I don't think I'm normal. I can watch them but I don't get excited about them. Love actually has Christmas in it which was the attraction for me |

We fellows are but simple creatures. Cater to our basic needs for leave your brain at the door entertainment from a movie. No thinking required...........guns, fights, car chases and the odd exploding helicopter......perfect |

I watched a fascinating programme on the iplayer last week about male/female brains. It should babies playing with toys, boys tended to go for trucks, cars, moving things, girls went for dolls etc. Now the interesting experiment was done with monkeys and the young males and females followed the same patterns, this proved it wasn't what our parents give us to play with that conditioned that way. Maybe that's why boys like the action, and girls like the tearjerkers.
Or maybe it's the eye candy in each kinda genre is tailored to the opposite sex haha |

I live with 3 men and I dislike men's films. I'm not actually a big lover of films anyway and much prefer a documentary.
I'm sick to death of seeing Black Hawk Down which is a favourite of theirs. |

"they have a movie channel for men on freeview and its all violence"
That's just a channel pandering to a perceived 'view' of male taste in order to promote itself. I assure you, Men have more varied taste.
Same with that ITVbe channel that just launched. It's marketed as for women, but if I was a woman i'd be offended that someone thought all women like to watch is reality shows about dull talentless people, living a life that's more 'glamorous' than mine. |

Shoot em up films are not of interest
Scenes of violence in a well crafted film with a plot, I can live with.
Weepies and soppy films don't work for me (except Pretty Woman ).
I tend to watch more world cinema and/or serious films these days, but recently watched The Grand Hotel Budapest.
A bit daft but great viewing and Ralph Fiennes was superb in it. |
