Having a discussion with the family about scary films. The time I was most scared was watching Friday 13th part 1 in the cinema. I can't watch any horror alone but think I'm becoming immune to blood and gore. We can't decide which is the scariest film ever made |

There's so many now I think I'm also becoming immune to all the blood and gore and shocks.
When I was a kiddie I remember watching A Nightmare On Elm Street and that was scary first time. Other than that though I don't think I get scared by films really |

Not sure it's the scariest as in a horror , but Se7en really gets inside your head with Spacey as John Doe.
Halloween used to scare me though when I was younger. I avoid horrors as they aren't my thing. |

the first one was excellent. Like most series though, the more sequels they did the more ludicrous they became! And a young Johnny Depp in the original too |

"Not really scary but The woman in black is quite creepy"
I was petrified of looking in a mirror for about a fortnight after that film! So scary! Although I couldn't leave the house after dark for a few weeks after watching Shaun of the Dead, I started planning what I would do in a zombie attack and everuthing. |

"I like scary films that could really happen Don't watch The. Entity then "
Ah the Entity, memorable to me as a 10 or 11 year old on an old VHS copy due to some nudity and boobies all very exciting.
Only when I was older did I realise what was happening was supposed to be rape (too young to understand at the time). Haven't seen that film for YEARS, will have to hunt it out! |

Still by far the most scariest. That film never warns you of impending shit-your-pants moments like others do."
Yep Salem's Lot put the shits up me too at that time. |

They seem to go for visuals more now rather than predicament and suspense. We don't get so many jump out of your seat scenes any more |

Not a scary film as such but War of the Worlds freaks me out
It's the alien things and I'm convinced wind farms are the same aliens. One day they just appear. I live near one and I never saw them go up. One day none then there were 12 of the fuckers!! Freaky alien shit if you ask me |

A film would have to get into my psyche to scare me now. As a Catholic teenager the religious and satanic elements of those films got to me. The visuals are good now but they are at best entertaining. Even death doesn't scare me now so it would have to be something deeply disturbing on a personal level to scare the crap out of me now |

That reminds me (strange how my mind works) Day of the Triffids freaked me. I think it was the book rather than the film that did the most damage. I was 11 when I read it

I remember a film where a woman was in a coffin with the man who was supposed to be getting her out of it. It could have been a Tales of the Unexpected episode,I hated those |
