Oooh so many 80s songs to choose from I could literally list hundreds.
But as it's a Saturday night I'm going to go to totally off piste and away from all the usual responses to 80s songs and choose probably the best (cheesiest?) piece of cheesy 80s Europop I can think of and suggest 'Brother Louie' by Modern Talking. Big hair, big shoulder pads, big 80s euro choon |

Just YouTube'd it. You're right. I stand corrected.
I was never really a fan of that incarnation of Fleetwood Mac, I much preferred them with Peter Green. |

For sentimental reasons, The King of Rock & Roll (Prefab Sprout) and Love Will Save The Day (Whitney Houston) - both etched into my brain as they were playing on the night of a "memorable" Leavers Disco at the end of GCSE's |

Rock me Amadeus - Falco
Frankie Goes to Hollywood - Two Tribes
Silcon Teens - Memphis Tennessee (OK that was Aug 79... but it's a great song) |

Great songs in the above posts. Personally, Pat Benatar's Love is a Battlefield takes me back to the teenager dancing in front of a mirror before going out to meet her crush at the school disco......sweet, innocent days |

"Monster mash and time warp lol "
Monster mash is originally from 1962 and time warp was featured in the rock horror show back in 1973.
But I believe they may have both been re-released in the 80s |

For me the song that kicked off the 80's was Depeche Mode's New life, one of my favourites though was Paul Young's wherever I lay my hat, in my mind it made Marvin Gaye's original look poor, Marvin was a complete legend, but Paul nailed it for me with this one |

"Prefab Sprout - The King Of Rock 'n' Roll (Albuquerque)
used to think, years ago, they were singing alpine cookie. "
The Misheard Lyrics:
Hot dog, jumping frog, I love Lucy.
Hot-dog, jumping frog, I want cookie.
Hot dog, jumping frog, Amber Cookie.
Hot dog, Jonathon frost, I want cookie.
Hot dog, jumping frog, hard boiled cookie!
Hot dog, chocolate fudge, I want cookie
Hot dog, jumping frog - Albert Gerkin
Hot-dog, junk and fry, I want cookie!
Spookily I was in Albuquerque a couple of months before this song was released |
