...Up on the Downs

Do you ever get that thing where you wake up ten seconds before something happens? Like ten seconds before there's a loud crash outside, or the phone rings, or a text comes in or something.......??

I keep doing it - how the heck does that happen, is it a known phenomenon?? It's almost like there's an echo just before something happens.....ooooh spoookeh!

P.O. Box DE1 0NQ

(Riff Raff) It's astounding

Time is fleeting

Madness takes it's toll...

(Magenta) Ahh...

(Riff Raff) But listen closely...

(Magenta) Not for very much longer...

(Riff Raff) I've got to keep control.

I remember doing the Time Warp.

Drinking those moments when

The blackness would hit me.

(Riff Raff & Magenta) And the void would be calling.

(Guests) Let's do the Time Warp again.

Let's do the Time Warp again.

(Narrator) It's just a jump to the left.

(Guests) And then a step to the right.

(Narrator) With your hand on your hips.

(Guests) You bring your knees in tight.

But it's the pelvic thrust.

They really drive you insane.

Let's do the Time Warp again.

Let's do the Time Warp again.

(Magenta) It's so dreamy

Oh, fantasy free me

So you can't see me

No not at all.

In another dimension

With voyeuristic intention.

Well secluded I see all...

(Riff Raff) With a bit of a mind flip...

(Magenta) You're into a time slip...

(Riff Raff) And nothing can ever be the same.

(Magenta) You're spaced out on sensation.

(Riff Raff) Like you're under sedation.

(Guests) Let's do the Time Warp again.

Let's do the Time Warp again.

(Columbia) Well, I was walking down the street

Just having a think

When a snake of a guy

Gave me an evil wink.

Well it shook me up

It took me by surprise

He had a pick-up truck

And the devil's eyes

He stared at me

And I felt a change

Time meant nothing

Never would again.

(Guests) Let's do the Time Warp again.

Let's do the Time Warp again.

(Narrator) It's just a jump to the left.

(Guests) And then a step to the right.

(Narrator) With your hands on your hips.

(Guests) You bring you knees in tight.

But it's the pelvic thrust...

That really drives you insane

Let's do the Time Warp again.

Let's do the Time Warp again.

Let's do the Time Warp again

(Columbia) Ah! Oh! Oh! Yeoooww...

Ahhhh.

(Guests) Let's do the Time Warp again.

Let's do the Time Warp again.

(Narrator) It's just a jump to the left.

(Guests) And then a step to the right.

(Narrator) With your hands on your hips.

(Guests) You bring your knees in tight.

But it's the pelvic thrust

They really drive you insane.

Let's do the Time Warp again.

Let's do the Time Warp again.

I woke up before this came on the radio and turned it off

A bit worrying. I hope the time-machine hasn't got a temporal leak again ...

I do, I often wonder if there must have been another noise just before that woke me up. I have also called people just as they are calling me. A few times now I have got somebody the exact same present they have got me. Spooky

Yes, I'm getting a lot of that kind of thing lately too, maybe we're just psychic!

When there's a noise in the night I usually write it off as there must be one previous, but it honestly feels like I have woken up *In Order* to hear the noise. And I know for sure with texts there was not one before.... I wonder why it happens on a given day.

No its just sleep induced lag between perception of the sound and your conscious mind registering it.

When asleep your still taking in sensory information but in a very generic way as your conscious mind is running on minimal processing. The loud noise causes a fear response, jolt of adrenalin wakes you, you become aware then perceive loud noise as it was the last stored sensory input.

Our perception of time and sensory memory is very malleable.

Excellent, thank you - I wondered if there might be some known phenomena like this!!! Is there a phrase for this kind of thing I can google, I'd like to find out more?

That makes sense. But, here is an example of what I mean.

My daughter was due home late. At two in the morning I awoke suddenly and all I could think of was my daughter. So I assumed she must have knocked the front door and woke me. I went downstairs, opened the door and she was just walking up the garden path. She was nowhere near the door. She was surprised to see me.

Yes, I get that too, and I think that is more about the close connection between two people.

I think its coincidence, but people like to put meanings to coincidences as it makes them easier to accept.

I burnt a piece of toast and it looked like Robert Powell AND Jesus. Now that's spooky!

That's nothing. My pizza looks like George Michael.

I disagree, sometimes there are coincidences, but if the closer you are to someone the more coincidences you get, then not so in my opinion.

Anyway, such 'connections' have been well documented even in animals, so it is not contentious IMO.
