.

Installed this last night and what a mistake I made.

Like Fab I have tthis running in the background and get on with my work like a good girl. If anyone sent me a message on my old MSN I got a flash in the toolbar at the bottom of my screen.

This version just pops up and I cannot find a way to stop it doing that. Any of yo wonderful people on here got any ideas?

Mally you are an angel but you are talking to a computer idiot here.

Where do I find that?

move mouse over icons next to search box till you find menu, then tools then options then alerts.

you should find what you need there

open msn messenger, click the 'Tools' menu, then 'options' in the drop down list.

This will bring up a list of diferent options. there are a list of menu's running down the left hand side (Personal, layout, sign in etc) I think you need to go to Alerts and left click that menu and click 'display alerts when a messagte is recieved'. this should stop them poping up when you get a message (you can togle all sorts of options from this menu).

Hope that does the trick for you.

Also under the Tools menu option, check to see if it's set to 'Always on top' and deselect it if it is.

windows, click start to turn it off.

word change return addy for envelopes go into envelopes then into fonts

with an army of software geniuses you would think they could get an interface right.

Start is short for "Start Menu" not to start or shut down the PC!

one thing you can do is open "programes"

in there you will see the old windows messenger

open that one and sign in

it works fine although its a bit antique

but if all you want is to chat to the odd buddy its fine

no bells and whistles

The new version of Word is god damn awful, they've moved everything for no good reason whatsoever. Fine if you're a new user but not great if you've been using Word for years as I have... Bad, bad Microsoft.

Thank feck it's not just me!!!

Posted exactly the same problem on my status, and I had plenty of offers to fix it, a young helpful guy came round last night and found out a file called .netcom didn't download properly, and he then reinstalled it, I'm still having problems, which he has offered to come back round and sort, but I am currently deleting some infected files he also spotted.

Silly question but have you un-installed (messenger) and then reinstalled it, which is what I did, just waiting to see if it has worked, so fingers crossed!!!!

A word of warning though, dont delete your windowslive account as you will lose all your messenger contacts. In their bid to get everyone using windowslive (marketing and sales crap) they have linked the 2 together so you cant have msn messenger without a windowslive account as i found to my cost
