"We watched Calvary at the weekend and we both thought it was excellent. "

On the synopsis, it said black comedy, but I didn't get that at all. It was so sad

The opening scene was a bit harrowing and we wondered if we'd carry on after that but some scenes were humorous.

Did you enjoy it though ?

Yes! It was a great film, but it was unexpected.

Really enjoyed Brendan Gleeson in The Guard (and obviously In Bruges).

Said it in the last film thread, if you haven't already, watch Trading Places, excellence.

And The Illusionist, saw The Machinist last year, Christian Bale dropped ridiculous amounts of weight for that one, and what a film.

we watched this, strangely absorbing and Mcavoy was a compelling watch. Felt strangely disturbed and saddened by the whole despair of it. A film should make you feel emotion, just like filth did!!!

That's one of the only films I had to turn off. The director said it was a social commentary piece, but it was so gratuitous. The New French Extremity movement did it better.

I really enjoyed Lone Survivor. Not quite as good as the book but does an adequate job of showing you what happened.

I didn't say I disliked it I just think the whole being watched from all angles thing was done first by chronicle and done better

I felt the same way about warm bodies, life after beth is better, even if it does deal with roughly similar subject matter.

Went to see What We Did On Our Holiday last week. For the first 20 mins I thought I was watching Outnumbered (same writers apparently). It then took a dark turn but ended up very syrupy.

Tha lady I was with enjoyed it though.

The books better. He was gone for much longer than the film suggests.

I watched The Hooligan Factory last night. I very nearly turned it off right at the start because Danny Dyer is the first face you see. Thankfully he's not in it for long and it turns into a bloody hilarious film....

I've watched Filth lately.. good film, McAvoy portrays it well... but I advise those that have watched it to read the book..

I saw Gone Girl at the weekend, that was good too.

I also enjoyed Denzels take on The Equaliser lately... pretty bad ass!
