I can't stand that program, probably because so many retards think it's actually for real and that Karl Pilkington really is making off-the-cuff remarks about Johnny Foreigner, rather than reading a Gervais/Merchant script.
Still, at least it's a little more believable than The Office, there were lots of people around who didn't realise that wasn't a fly-on-the-wall documentary. It makes you realise there's always gullible folk about to be ripped off. |

Totally agree! There is no way anyone can be that stupid & I find it incredible that there are still folk out there whom believe so!!  |

I know it's easy to think your being conned but if you see the origins if Karl's career then you'd see he is not a character.
I do agree that he is now smart enough to play up to the camera but it's his opinions and outlook on things that make him amusing to watch, not just the fact he is naive about things.
For me the show is amusing but possible the worst program Karl's done. Sky tried to find a vehicle to get him on TV as the radio show Ricky/steve/ Karl did before rickys career went massive was just the funniest ever.
Ricky did acknowledge even back then the doubts by people about Karl being a character but they stated how on earth do they manage to script a 2hr weekly radio show? It takes them months to script 30mins episode of the office so there is no way they'd waste that time and effort and material on a crappy radio station.
While I understand the reason to doubt I do think he is a genuine guy who is now clever enough to make money from TV....funny as fook he is sometimes! |
