Okay this maybe a stupid question but....
I've defrosted some steak in the fridge overnight, 2 pieces are a normal pinky/ red colour the other bigger piece has a lot of darker almost brown patches on it. Looks a lot deader than the other 2.
There's no funny smell but is it okay to use ~ I don't eat meat but don't really want to poison the kids...?! |

it happens frequently with packaged red meat. It should be perfectly ok. |

Packaged meat usually has dyes added to it to make it look red, fresh and appealing. The dye tends to change colour after being in the air for a while.
Meat from the butchers looks darker meat as it's not been prepared with the dye. |
